Sorry Lynn, My feelings ended up at the bottom of your comments. I'm new to this. I live in the Glens Falls area where Gary Mercure was pastor at St. Mary's. I was a victim of his for 3 years...preyed upon my boyish look and blonde hair and blue eyes. He's a selfish, vulgar man!

Good job he is hiding behind NT..
If it were OT you could have stoned him.
Leviticus: Lv. 18:223: "You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It
is an abomination." And 20:13: "If a man lies with a male as with a woman,
both of them have committed an abomination. They shall surely be put to
death."

I have a ton of symphathy for anyone who has been sexual abused by anyone..but these incidents happened 20 years ago...and Fr. Mercure has been a very positive influenece on my family for the last 5 years....these incidents of sexual abuse by a priest are very uncommon in today's society..

<quoted text>Good and respectful response Pax, you are realistic! I went through molestation in a Catholic orphanage, I was 7, but molested at 5 and 4, and only God knows how much. I remember things and they have even haunted me at 59 yers of age.Of course I have no issues about it now, but I was a disfunctional teen at worse.I found out at 19 that I could forgive with the grace of God. But I was still troubled about sexuality, and it affected me more than I could even say on this post.Yes a priest was involved, I do not know his name, and those days are long gone into antiquity as it were. I forgve him in my soul, and feft spiritual release. When I read all the posts in this thread memories cloud my mind, but I know that Jesus is my Portion, and He is mighty to Save. It is so terrible for the victims, people do not know the years of misery, and inadequacy one experiences. Many respond differently as some become homosexual, some become homophobic to extreme, soem live in isolation. But if people really turn to Jesus, He will heal the deepest wounds and make Himself ever real and sufficient. The last ONE we should turn against, is probably the First One we reject in such matters. God in His Son Jesus Christ. Priests,Ministers, teachers who do these acts of criminal abuse to children are in no way bringing glory to our Lord, but the most profound SHAME!For He is Sinless, those men need so much to REPENT and turn to their Creator. The whole issue is so troublesome to our souls, but God is able to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, read 1John 1:9._________Sin defiles us all, no matter whether we sin or are targeted for sin. The defilement is in a spiritual sense, and only God can cleanse us spiritually from the tentacles of Sin.We are all sinners, and there are non-righteous, only Jesus is Sinless.
My fear is for those who for whatever twisted reason see no wrong in what they are doing and continue unabated with their sin and in that harming untold numbers of victums and their families. I am as a Catholic am appaled, saddened and angry at those priests who have preyed on children and those higher up in leadership who have let this go on way too long. Still my heart is that of a Catholic and I do see good priests who are trying to minister to their people. i can only pray and be watchful for the sake of my children and the children I work with. I am thankful that the Lord has brought you to a good place in spite of what you had to endure.

To all who have been affected by this most recent abuse,

My heart, prayers, and thoughts are with you. I am a survivor of priest abuse, and am a woman. I am also a survivor of heirachy cover-up.

SNAP is a courageous and supportive organization, and I know that in time you will find your balance once again, along with a renewed (and even stronger) faith in God.

You are not alone, and you have a voice. Never give up.

Susan, You are a bigger fool than I was. If a person commits murder 20 yrs. ago is he still not guilty of murder? Gary Mercure killed my son's childhood and has ruined his adult life. If you have children, you better talk to them about this subject, or you will end up in such pain and guilt you want to die. A pediphyle does NOT stop abusing children, they will grasp at any opportunity, and I pray your family was not one. These brave men who have come fprward have done so to stop child abuse by Mercure! Susan, Please Wake Up!

My apology for the poor sentence structure. It has been very busy for me teaching; my time on the relay is limited.

Let's nip your lies in the bud just like I did last time. You don't teach, you aren't a priest because you are married:

Not as pathetic as an imbecile posing as a priest. Do you know the canonical penalty for that? Excommunication. That would only apply if you really
ARE a Roman Catholic. I think you're a nut.

I'm French and that is the way it is spelled in France, DUH!

FRANCK

Gender: Masculine

Usage: French

Pronounced: FRAWNK [key]
French form of FRANK (1)

Why should I care what some heretic that goes around posing as a Catholic priest on the internet
questions my gender? You're the one with major credibility problems. Jackass!

And if you discover that your child was abused 10 years from now, how would you feel. Time does not negate the crime, your comment is illogical.
