"Authority structure" is a stupid reason for church hopping. Obviously, what the pope and his heirarchy says goes with an expectation of everyone being on the same page. That is certainly not true in TEC. In Catholocism those who agree with historic Catholic teaching stay and those who disagree are silenced, removed, and disciplined. In TEC it is the opposite. In TEC what Madame Jefferts-Schori says goes, but not all the heirarchy is not on the same page. So in TEC those who do not agree with historic Episcopal teaching stay and those faithful to the historic teachings of the church are silenced, removed and disciplined -- if they don't leave of their own accord first.

However, in both churches the concept of "authority structure" is a fallacy because in neither church is God's Word the authority, people and their proclamations and votes are. Therefore both are losing members in the Western World gangbusters. That is why it is stupid to church hop based on "authority structure."
