Ariz. diocese revokes hospital's status after surgery
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix stripped a major hospital of its affiliation with the church Tuesday because of a surgery that ended a woman's pregnancy to save her life.

What the above story does not mention is that the woman already had four children. If nothing was done both the mother and the 11 week fetus would die. But, the mother could be saved by removing the fetus. So, the hospital ethics board decided it was acceptable in this situation to save the mother.
