The school has a fund-raising campaign to raise $3,600,000
.
They have reached $3,450,000
http://www.mountdesales.net/misc/Campaign%20P...
.
But now Flint's lawsuit will clean out the fund and everything else the donors can come up with for the next 500 years
.

Since there's no mention of this rcc school having a statement on its website about not discriminating on the basis of sexual orientation - like the other rcc school being sued by an employee who was let go on the basis of his same sex marriage - I will assume this school never announced such an anti discrimination policy.

"Enterprising lawyers have been making that [gender] argument since at least the 1990s, and federal courts have been saying 'nice try' just as long. But in April, a judge in Washington made a ruling in a lawsuit brought by federal employee Peter TerVeer. TerVeer claims his supervisor at the Library of Congress made his work life miserable because TerVeer is gay.

"LGBT rights attorney Greg Nevins, who is helping with TerVeer's case, explains how TerVeer sued under Title VII:

" 'His romantic or intimate interest in men is something that the women workers at the office were not penalized for, but he was,' Nevins says.'He made that claim in federal district court, and the court allowed it to proceed, despite a motion to dismiss by the Department of Justice.'

"Now the TerVeer case is giving hope to people like Dollar. He's filed a complaint with the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, or EEOC, alleging sex discrimination."

I think a better plan would be to claim discrimination based on marital status. The school had no problem hiring him when they knew he was gay. They obviously also knew he was a man. What bothers them is that he tried to get married.

It's not a matter of being 'bothered.' It's against their belief system and their employment contract. It's not that he " tried to get married" it's that he wants to marry another man. Church says no to that.

It couldn't be easier. If you're gay, don't look for employment in a Catholic church. If you're Catholic church, don't hire gays. Problem solved.

No, that doesn't solve the problem, unless you're a stupid bigot.

1. Many of these schools, particularly but not only at the university level, have anti discrimination clauses covering sexual orientation.

2. Educated persons don't like bigotry. Or hypocrisy - these rcc affiliated institutions aren't barring those who covet from employment. Therefore they are just sexually sick, anti gay, anti sex mullahs.

3. And it's not only rcc affiliated schools or rcc houses of worship of hate. It's now going to be closely held corporations.

What would be a solution would be if people of other sincerely held beliefs could bar Catholics from employment (or from being customers.) That would "solve" the problem - by revealing how offensive bigotry is.

Oh, I meant, "sincerely held religious beliefs," of course, but I meant it mockingly.

It does. Don't sign a contract that says you must follow the teachings of the church if you have no intention of doing so. You will not change the church.

No, that is only a solution to someone who loves bigotry. The rest of us don't find acquiescing to be bigotry to be a solution.

And it is bigotry. The rcc is not barring those who violate many of the Commandments or many things found in scripture much more concretely from employment. Just the lgbt people who don't want to hide.

Finally, the rcc will change, just as it pretended to change regarding its anti Semitism, just as it pretended to change regarding its abuse of power in a sexual context scandal. It will just change half heartedly about six decades after everyone else has changed.

Get a job elsewhere. You will not change the church.
Stop the lying on your employment application. You can't win.
You will lose.

Church operated schools must meet certain government standards to achieve accreditation; and hiring gays gives the school a leg up on those standards
.
They also must meet certain government standards to receive government grants; loans; subsidies; and religious tax exemptions
.
This is how reality rolls

In this particular case, the employee had not lied on his employment application. It's typical behavior of a bigot to cast aspersions on others, and to make them up if nothing else is handy.

You have lied that you are not religious. You are actually obsessed with the right of the rcc to be ignorant and bigoted.

It won't last forever, though. Just way too long, as every other deeply sick initiative of the rcc hierarchy has lasted way too long, starting with the Inquisition right down to the pervasive anti Semitism and covering up and financial shenanigans in the Vatican.

Laws should be passed that protect the Church from the actions of those who conspire to destroy our Constitutional right to freedom of religion. This country was founded on freedom of religion, which is guaranteed literally by the Constitution.
The right to marry is not specifically stated in the Constitution, it is only implied by a liberal translation of your right to pursue happiness. Just because anal sex makes you happy, it does not grant you rights that superceed freedom of religion.

You're sick. These schools are not the church. They are church affiliated. They hire and accept as students no catholics.

Even churches, the real, actual things, are not permitted to discriminate on any number of categories in employment, such as race. This has been true for decades.

You don't ever know the first thing...except what your homosexual fixations are. That you know.
