Once again I pose this question because there is a radial Nation of Islam follower who is trying to tell me that Jesus wasn't born Jewish...

If not why did he celebrate Passover, speak in the synagouges, and claim the temple as his Father's house? Just some ideas.

show him luke chapter one he talks about the children of israel(the jews) the angel said a virgin woman who is married to joseph of the house of david which is israel and when he is born he will be given the kingdom and will reign forever...Jesus was the king of the jews..when jesus was on earth his ministry was preaching to the people of israel the jews ...they rejected him crusified him and then he sent paul in the book of acts to preach to the gentiles...there are many things in matthew through john which is the gospels to the jews that prove it...i am dealing with the same thing right now with a muslim at work..i have debated many times in the past and if you study it the bible will answer all questions whatever verse he pulls out just keep it in context read before and after it and you will see how the bible will interpret itself...

Actually, as far as I can see, there is no evidence that Jesus was Jewish. He was not Joseph's son, so Joseph's Jewishness is irrelevant. His Mother's family tree/geneology is not given in the Bible. So where is the evidence that he is Jewish?

If someone could tell me where exactly in the Bible it tells us that Mary was Jewish, I'd be grateful.

I am at my inlaws and I will have to get home to my Bible to give you exact scripture but the Bible talks about marriage for Israel(the Jews) In all the law that was given by God to Israel, it was wrong for Jews to marry, and live etc.. non jews. In order to follow the laws of God they had to abide by this.. You see that gentiles and samarians(jew and gentile mixed) lived outside the city gates and beyond. You can see when Jesus had come and was telling the desciples what to do and where to go and preach this Gospel of the Kingdom. Jesus said not to go to the gentiles or the samarians but go unto the lost sheep of the house of israel(jews). Not until acts chapter 9 when Jesus came down to paul and revealed to him the Gospel of God's grace and told him he would be a light unto the gentiles. There in acts 9 the transition was started. Paul was to go with this Gospel to the jews first then to the gentiles. The jews had Jesus and the 12 preaching the gospel of the kingdom and they rejected that and crucified Him. Then again they rejected the gospel of God's grace when paul came to them first. Then paul went to the gentiles and kept on his course. So after all that is said..back to marry being jewish. Her and joseph were not married when Jesus was born. Thats why joseph was taking her somewhere to hide her because under the law of that time she would have been stoned for that. The Bible says later after jesus was born then joseph went in and "knew" her and took her for his wife. leviticus, and duteronomy are where you would find this discription of marriage rules according to the law. AGAIN I need to get to my house with my Bible with all my notes in it in order to give a better explanation.I hope this helps a little even though i gave you nothing to refference. If you want me to give you all the scripture then reply with "give me the verses" so that next time I sign on I will have the reply to remind me...

thanks. i know about this stuff too, i mean, i've read it. but it still doesn't seem to be clear. the only reference i can find to Mary being Jewish is that Elizabeth (of the daughters of Aaron) is described as her relative. it seems like a very important omission. A lot of time is devoted to explaining Joseph's heritage but then, he's not Jesus's father. it's interesting that it appears to be quite vague. I mean, that in itself is interesting. isn't it?

Joseph is a direct descendant of King Solomon who's father is King David and mother Batsheva.
Ironically Mary the mother of Jesus is a direct descendant of King Solomon's brother of same mother Batsheva and father David, named Nathan.

Mary and Joseph were betrothed meaning they were married according to jewish law, that's why no one suspected foul play of fornication.

In biblical Jewish tradition you couldn't break an engagement, unless one of the two was unfaithful, meaning they slept with someone else prior to consummation.

Once you got engaged to a person, you are good as married. Oh by the way Jesus is Jewish hence he's alive not dead.

History tells us that 2000 years ago in this area that Yeshua was a common name. There is no historical facts/evidence that there ever was a divine Jesus (Yeshua as Hebrews call him) just spiritual writings in the bible by persons unknown. The same writers were goat, sheep herders that believed disease was caused by demons. They sound like credible people, don't they (LOL) The 4 gospels were written in Greek and had been re writen several times before Constantine designed and created the catholic church nearly 300 years after this supposed jewish man named Jesus lived. 300 years! There might have been a man named Jesus but there is no factual evidence that a divine man named Jesus ever lived Jewish or otherwise during 6 BCE and 27 AD. There is no historical evidence that there was a crucifixtion, a virgin birth, miracles, etc. No factual information that King Herod slaughtered a society of young infant males, but considerable information about King Herods life. We do have factual evidence that there existed long before a Jesus mythical gods that also claimed to perform miracles, born on December 25, died and were spirited away. These stories centuries before christianity sure sounds like plagurism by the christian believers of the time to me.
There were many jewish and roman writers back in that time period and not one person wrote anything down about a man named Yeshua bringing someone back to life, making a blind man see, feeding 5,000 people loaves fishes, walking on water, and turning water into wine for hundreds. Wouldn't someone of these thousands have written something down? NOPE! Why would thousands of people who he suposedly helped want him crucified? The story is fishy at best. We don't know when he was born, don't have a clue what he looked like. But millions believe, mostly through family indoctrination......UNBELIEVAB LE!

Moses went into the wilderness of Africa and returned witha dark skinned wife. So he did not marry a jew and actually married an African.
