I am reposting this article. Apparently the other editor of Topix-Baha'i deleted this article shortly after I brought it to the readers' attention two days ago.

If the Baha'is are having a conference about sexuality, to discuss also the problem of dealing with the issue of homosexuality when it's brought up in public discussions about the Faith, then WHY does the editor feel that the news about the sexuality conference should be hidden?

From the Badi Blog itself ( http://badiblog.blogspot.com/2008/09/sexualit... ), that announces the conference, it says:

"One of the most vexed questions that we, as teachers of the Baha'i Faith, confront these days is that of homosexuality. Yesterday I heard a believer admit that she is afraid to teach the faith for fear that some liberal will bring up the Baha'i position on homosexuality and criticize it. This blog has paid some attention to this issue, followed by a spate of negative, critical comment from the same bunch of liberal thinkers. I learn in the most graphic terms how wrong and indeed evil I am as a human being for disagreeing with the standard wisdom.

"Anyway, Hamilton's McMaster University is soon going to feature an entire conference on this. A must see.

Dear "inquiring mind",

You can find a rich discussion of just about every issue regarding the faith of Baha'u'llah's presentation of "homosexuality" by joining the Yahoo Group, "Heart of the Baha'i Faith." http://groups.yahoo.com/group/heartofthebahai...

Once in, just do a search on the word "homosexuality" or "gay", and you should find just about everything to answer your question.

This group, alas, is not a Baha'i group but has been set up by some folks who have, for reasons, of their own, broken with the Baha'i Faith and are attempting to subvert it.

Their message is not about unity, it is about schism.

This group, alas, is not an authentic Baha'i group, but a spiritual counterfeit based in Haifa, Israel. It has for many decades attempted to subvert the authentic revelation of Baha'u'llah. Their message is not about unity, it is about schism. Please visit a real Baha'i site; the Yahoo Group, "Heart of the Baha'i Faith."

Dear anti-Haifa covenant breakers, stop trying to corrupt the covenant with your venemous lies and blatant disregard for either the Master or the Guardian. Stop abasing yourselves and naiive impressionable innocent people that might be genuinely interested in learning about the real Baha'i faith.

"You people" need to stop trying to get other people to legitimize your behavior. We tolerate it because you have the freedom to behave as you want sexually, as long as it is between consenting adults, but that has nothing to do with faith.

Sex is a means for reproduction. Period.

We all know, that people use it primarily for a means of attaining physical pleasure, myself included, but I don't try to go around telling people that marriage is simply a legitimization of my love for a human. It isn't. Marriage is a man and woman getting together, with the approval of their family and community, for the sake of starting a family. Sex is just something that we do as a part of that union.

Gay people are patently using sex for a different reason, because they KNOW that what they are doing has nothing to do with reproduction...and yet...they're trying to get others to recognize what they are doing as being just the same as what "straight" people are doing.

Instead of whining about other people judging you, why don't you just start your own religion that says being gay is great.
