I find this article quite funny.

"Like a recovering alcoholic careful never to take sobriety for granted, I have to take life one day at a time.

You might think it's odd for a pastor to struggle with living like there is no God. However, in my corner of the world, Christian Atheism is a fast-spreading spiritual pandemic which can poison, sicken, and even kill eternally. Yet Christian Atheism is extremely difficult to recognize especially by those who are infected."

He sounds like you is describing the christian meme. You just need to take out the word Athesim...

"..in my corner of the world, Christian[ity] is a fast-spreading spiritual pandemic which can poison, sicken, and even kill eternally. Yet Christian[ity] is extremely difficult to recognize especially by those who are infected."

ahh, thats better

Living like there is no God, a curious statement. I fail to see the relevance of such a statement. Should it not be living like and atheist? In that case I think it is wonderful, if you subscribe to the George Carlin school of thought. If you haven't seen it look it up on Youtube, it is hilarious and brilliant. His take on the Ten Commandments is great too. There is a very humbling video by Carl Sagan that I highly recommend also "A pale Blue Dot" and "A dragon live in my garage" both a good watch.

I don't think he understands atheism at all. There are multiple flaws in religious understanding that a person simply lacks belief in a deity. Or an agnostic that believes there is no way of knowing for sure.

The basic problem is that the religous person often refuses to believe the nonreligious person's self description.

Far too often it's not, "How are you today?" but, "Here's how you are today."

How else can one live, except like there is no god?

Anything else is just self-deception.

Christians who believe Jesus Christ is God, and who worship God as Jesus and who believe God's love is unconditional, know they can't displease God, they are already saved.

They also believe that Jesus died for their sins, even sins they haven't committed yet, now why on earth would they want to imitate Jesus and be obedient to God's word.

Atheists don't have to believe or obey God's word either. Kapeesh

That makes life a lot easier for a freethinker like me. I can indulge in harmless vices without worrying about being hit by a bolt of lightning, and I can do something fun Sunday mornings like sleeping in or watching cartoons.

No one is saved until you find your body alive on the other side of Armageddon, true Christians are told to work out their salvation with fear and trembling. Philippians 2:12

Being a true Christian today is not easy, and the Bible says only a few will get saved, the main thing is we have to be trying to do God's will to the best of our ability to have God's approval.

Well, since my odds are pretty small anyways, I guess I'll have to devote my life to sex, drugs, and rock & roll. Whoo, hoo!

And, besides, the Church of the Subgenius says that I'll be whisked away the the Planet of the Sex Goddesses on X Day anyways since I've payed my $30--and sex, drugs, and rock & roll are sacraments in my Church. Praise 'Bob'!

Trouble is, nobody can agree what that is. So it's all wasted effort.

they don't understand the meaning of it, so they lie about the defination

they really cannot comprehend that we reject what they think that they are centering their lives around

but we do see that they are living their life and centering their religious beleifs around do what they want to do with their lives

we don't see the value in the pretence of inventing a divine authority to give ourselves permission to do what we're going to do with or out the divine veneer

wow, yeah, living as if there's no god while defining yourself as a christian is not being an atheist

that's just failing to live as a christian 24/7

because really, it's not possible to live in such a contradictory and inconsistent fashion, nor to keep a mind focussed on that one thing

we seek novelty - so probably trying to be that uptight all the time explains a lot why christians then go out and molest kids, cheat on spouses, go crazy in the closet and embezzle money - just to feel something to be away from the straight jacket that religious life is

Really this article shows little self awareness on the part of this pastor. "Living like an athiest" in his mind means doing things that would displease god. In reality he's living like god is going to forgive him anyway... so he is taking god for granted. This is the opposite of athiesm where you're responsible to yourself and there is no free pass.
