Is it possible for a libertarian Christian and a liberal atheist to talk religion and politics and still remain civil? That's what Adam Murtagh of Mount Joy and Adam Lee of New York City are out to find out during their "Think! " debate and book signing at Midtown Scholar Bookstore in Harrisburg at 2 p.m. Dec. 14. Both have written books about ... (more)

History is currently being distorted by the millions of Christians who lie to have us believe that the Holocaust was not a Christian deed. Through subterfuge and concealment, many of today’s Church leaders and faithful Christians have camouflaged the Christianity of Adolf Hitler and have attempted to mark him an atheist, a pagan cult worshipper, or a false Christian in order to place his misdeeds on those with out Jesus. However, from the earliest formation of the Nazi party and throughout the period of conquest and growth, Hitler expressed his Christian support to the German citizenry and soldiers. Those who would make Hitler an atheist should turn their eyes to history books before they address their pews and chat rooms.<quoted text>
Jewish atheist bullshite. Anyone who reads Hitler's private letters knows he thought Christians were fools and Christianity a fool's religion. Sure, in public, he made a few supportive comments to appease and fool German Christians, but his whole Nazi ideology has no connection whatsoever to Christian beliefs, none. nada. A Christian is more than a label pinned on a person by others. Nice try, atheists, but it doesn't fly in the face of historical facts about Hitler's private beliefs.

Here Hitler uses the Bible and his Christianity in order to attack the Jews and uphold his anti-Semitism:

"My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter. It points me to the man who once in loneliness, surrounded by a few followers, recognized these Jews for what they were and summoned men to fight against them and who, God’s truth! was greatest not as a sufferer but as a fighter. In boundless love as a Christian and as a man I read through the passage which tells us how the Lord at last rose in His might and seized the scourge to drive out of the Temple the brood of vipers and adders. How terrific was His fight for the world against the Jewish poison. To-day, after two thousand years, with deepest emotion I recognize more profoundly than ever before the fact that it was for this that He had to shed His blood upon the Cross. As a Christian I have no duty to allow my self to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice… And if there is anything which could demonstrate that we are acting rightly it is the distress that daily grows . For as a Christian I have also a duty to my own people." –Adolf Hitler, in a speech on 12 April 1922 (Norman H. Baynes, ed. The Speeches of Adolf Hitler, April 1922-August 1939, Vol. 1 of 2, pp. 19-20, Oxford University Press, 1942)

Evangelical atheist

An atheist who is so committed to his own doctrine of the non existence of God that he believes he holds to no doctrine at all and has thus been consumed by his actual philosophical dogma, cause, identity, and world view.

An atheist who holds his position by falsely claiming he has no position.

An atheist who splits not only semantically thin hair but thin air.
Evangelical atheists love to redefine the traditional established definition of atheism.

I agree there's much evidence to that effect. On the other hand he made as many statements suggesting he is as religious as Pres Obama....
“I believe today that I am acting in the sense of the Almighty
Creator. By warding off the Jews I am fighting for the Lord’s work.”

[Adolph Hitler, Speech, Reichstag, 1936]
There are many such quotes.

Like many people do today, he paid lip-service to religion and used it to control or influence voters.

Hitler wasn't motivated by religion/atheism but by racist and ideological beliefs and the injustice he felt had been done to the Germans and 'Aryan race' in WW1.

The point is that religion/atheism is largely irrelevant to the growth of Nazism. Doesn't change the fact that religion is essentially superstition and tends to harm society, which is better served by secularism, separation of Church and State and inclusiveness. Obvious really, like the fact that there's no more evidence of god(s) than of pixies.

Religion = superstition
It's outdated and divisive.

The bigger question to ask is did Hitler commit his acts of atrocities in the name of his religion.

This should be asked of all the genocidal despots in recent history.

And that includes any gods.

Wrong, Bad Logic, as usual. Why? Because atheist denial of any historical facts contradicting the cherished belief: Forgot: French Republic in the hands of "Reason". All of Russia and many nations in the U.S.S.R. in the hands of atheist Communists, all the millions dead there, the millions dead in atheist Communist China, the millions dead in Cambodia under atheists. You talk only about Hitler and forget the Other psycho monsters because they were atheists. Shows you bias, shows your inability to reason intelligently.

I like that quite accurate term: Evangelical Atheism..fits the typical atheist troll to a T.

About once every month, Atheists have to remind Christian fundamentalists that Hitler was in fact Christian:

“I believe today that I am acting in the sense of the Almighty
Creator. By warding off the Jews I am fighting for the Lord’s work.”
