Yes he is an apologist as his work clearly reflects are you really this stupid?

I'm glad you like it because it's true. By the way the Hebrews fled to Canaan to escape the Egyptians? Lol!

Bad move as Egypt controlled that as well at the time :))

Your sad apologetic fairy tale has already been shattered. First Japhia existed way before the NT myth was penned and continued to remain by that name after it was written. It's over a mile away. And he would have been called Jesus of Japhia not Jesus of Nazareth.

Care to fail again?

Lmfao!

Catholics persecuted early Christians? Lmfao!

Catholics are Christians you dolt! They are the first organized and named Christian church!

The author merely illustrates how many cases of a Christian being executed had to do with breaking Roman law not for merely being Christian and nothing else.

The ancient Romans were brutal but everyone in Rome felt that threat not just Christians. In fact in comparison to other mystery religions in Rome at the time the Christians got off pretty easy and Christians were more of an annoyance their first 250 years of existence.
barry wrote:
<quoted text>now all of a sudden a catholic whose church itself persecuted Christians is a reliable authority on history?
if i posted a catholic source you know that you would reject it.

The ancient Egyptian religion was one of the earliest organized religions. Much of it stems from ancestor and sun worship which was common at the time.

Just like 100% of the rest of the bible is-- myth.
And you?
You are too gullible to see that fact...!
Sad.

I am but one poster-- the same name I created back-when-- in December of 2006. Prior to that, you could not register at Topix, and I posted under "Bob the Unbeliever".

I have never, in the entire history of Topix, posted as anyone else-- not that I give a shyt what YOU think-- you are a proven liar after all.

And liars get HELL, according to your ugly bible.

Now ain't you glad your bible isn't true?

Really? You are the janitor or something?
Because your writing style, your ability to express yourself is barely sixth grade.. seriously.
You show horrid use of grammar, you cannot seem to grasp basic punctuation and you do not realize that sentences, in English, begin with a capital letter...
So pardon us, if we think you are just ... LYING AGAIN.
You came into an ATHEIST forum, and with your very first post? You lied.
You have not stopped lying, since.
So it is highly UNLIKELY that YOU work in an actual ... university.
well, i don't think that you could google a janitor and see his accomplishments. you can however google me and see that i have accomplished over 30 years working for universities both in this country and outside of this country. i am well known for what i do. God has truly blessed me.
so i'm guessing that i am not the janitor so i must be the "or something"

now as for your critic of my style of writing, who cares? i am not a slave to rules that are ever changing.
you are the real expert here. you thought that somehow there was a financial advantage to making a charitable contribution and claiming a tax deduction. or was that a tax credit?

oh, excuse me, they only persecuted heretics. sometimes wiping out whole cities including their own to eliminate any threat of dissent they were really Christ-like now weren't they?
and the cc was not organized until the 4th century when constantine adopted and gave them authority.

I'd say "nice try" but you did not actually try-- you lied.
Lying is all that you seem capable of doing, here.
Sad.
and you can post an example of that? not.

He's a GODBOT with an AGENDA until proven otherwise.
The safe assumption is that he is a godbot-- for there are so very many of those Liars For Jesus out there.
You ought to know: you are one of them.
if that was true he wouldn't last very long as a Chair in a state university. but then what would you know?

so maybe the egyptians got their ideas from someone else? interesting.
maybe, just maybe the Bible accounts are correct because God preserved the truth while others, maybe the egyptians polluted it.

That's sad, bub.
Really... it is sad...
i posted the sites. so now can you refute the evidence?

You don't read very well-- DO you?

I was speaking of YOU-- you claimed to work for a university, and I asked you if you were a janitor.

Perhaps janitorial work is more than you can handle?

Maybe you are just a lawn mower? Or a collector of trash on the university campus?

Because you CLEARLY are NOT any sort of professor!

It is, in fact, ALL THAT YOU DO: lie.

I literally do not give a rat-fart WHAT you say from this point on-- YOU ARE A PROVEN LIAR.

Bullshyt.

NOTHING in your ugly bible is older than 500BCE. NOTHING.

Egyptian culture pre-dates your ugly bible by thousands of years.

Why did your stupid god WAIT so long, before "writing" the bible?

Hmmm?

Was your god on the toilet? Perhaps he was sick with a migraine?

<laughing>

Your bible is 100% fraud, you ignorant buffoon.

I've studied the gods of the North American Indians/Natives.
They are far and away SUPERIOR in every way to your European Magic Jewish Wizard.
Seriously.
I'd much rather be under the NAN gods than under YOUR ugly god-of-slavery.
Coyote was cool, for example-- way more clever than your Jewsus could ever be.(But Coyote was not universal to them all, he's mostly a Mid-western and a South-Western god, as far as I have researched-- but he's still a cool god, if you must have one that is)
got to love those na's who thought that they had to appease their gods with human sacrifices. that when a king/chief died his wives and sometimes his kids along with any slaves/servants were buried with him. wait, they must have stolen that from the egyptians.

http://www.examiner.com/article/evidence-foun...

"...the Timucua People of northeastern Florida. Timucua women would voluntarily sacrifice their first born babies to their king in order to obtain favor from the gods in future harvests and hunts. The Timucua also sacrificed adults from time to time to appease their gods."

"French officials in Louisiana personally witnessed the sacrifice of a Natchez Great Sun’s (king’s) wife and retainers as part of his funeral. Strangulation of the deceased leader’s wife and slaves was mandatory."

"[the] Pawnee’s on the Southern Plains kill[ed] young women as a ritual worshiping the goddess of the Morning Star (Venus.) Apparently, this was a religious custom that originated when the Pawnee were participants in a more advanced sedentary society in the Mississippi River Basin. Worship of the planet Venus as a goddess appears to have been Mesoamerican in origin."
"Each spring, Pawnee warriors would capture a teenage girl of special beauty from an enemy village. For a year, she would be treated as a dignitary. In the early spring, when the Morning Star was in a certain position, the young woman would, without warning, be tied to a wooden frame. At the signal of a priest, the men of the village would begin shooting her with arrows, being careful not to hit portions of her body that would cause instant death. The goal of the sacrifice was to cause as much blood as possible to drip to the earth and fertilize it."

"[at Cahokia] archaeologists first uncovered a royal burial of a man in his 50s, surrounded by many grave offerings. Beneath that grave was that of another man’s skeleton, with somewhat fewer offerings. Beneath the royal burials were the skeletons of 52 young women, neatly arranged. Their skeletons showed no violence, so they were probably strangled. There were 52 years in a Mesoamerican century. Off to the side Pauketat found the skeletons of several young men, who had been violently killed. Their bodies had been haphazardly tossed into a pit."
"The elite of Cahokia continued to sacrifice humans as ritual bases for temples until the city’s abandonment."

got to love those na gods.
