Oppression of atheists

Jan 6, 2013 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: Examiner.com

The case that atheists are oppressed has a germ of truth in it - but like all media proclamations, one might find the facts are not exactly square with the analysis proffered to the public at large.

From the story.......

"However, I do observe that some American 'angry-atheists' seem to go to extraordinary lengths to ensure that all people of faith will detest them with utter contempt."

Speaks for itself

BTW- I will no longer use the name KittenKoder as I donot want any association with that failed flaccid little man. Yes,.......

Irony meter went haywire on that one.

First, if your assertions were half true, then wouldn't "flacid" be a desired effect?

Second, it does not surprise me that you would side with an enabler.

It's a fact that Muslim ruled lands have oppressed and suppressed atheists and pagans.

This tale is biased.
Try standing up in the bible belt states of the USA down south and declare yourself an atheist.
The response towards you would be akin to driving around in a pink van with a "gay pride" bumper sticker.
The USA citizens are the most bigoted and violent race on earth.

I agree to some extent, as like all countries they have people residing in them who are truely fcked in the head.

However, I have been dug in with US soldiers and have met some amazing Yanks who want nothing more than to raise a family and enjoy life :)- not waste it by reading instrucion books (Quran bible ect) as no matter how many books claim there is an afterlife, no1 will ever know!

I don't think that atheists have much to complain about. Probably the most oppressed group in Islamic countries are the Baha'is particularly in Iran:

I dunno though, I'm sure most of us on here have had supernatural experiences of some sort?

Talking of wasting your time reading scripture, here is an article on the hypocrisy of ultra-orthodox jews. They regularly vote for war in the Knesset, but won't serve in the IDF themselves.

Agree. I think a minority of American extremists give the rest a bad name.

Which may have natural explanations. Such as hallucinations, dreams, etc.

People who claim to see God/ghosts/aliens can be just hallucinating, and what they claim to see is just in their mind.

If we could go back in a time machine to the bronze age, people who we now consider fundies, would seem like tree hugging liberals compared to the blood thirsty and violent savages of the past.

There are lots of stories and anecdotal evidence for both trains of thought.

Hmmm. Supernatural claims tend to have natural explanations, or can be put down to coincidence IMO.

An ignorant person like yourself often believe in the paranormal or supernatural phenomena, e.g. psychic powers, ghosts, haunted houses, UFOs, and exorcism.

UFO's? I'm skeptical.
Exorcisms? Nah!
