1) you cannot prove this "jesus" character even lived--let alone what he may or may not have said, from 2000+ years of history.

2) the problem is? You have zero proof.

That pre-dates your ugly bible by thousands of years-- yes, even your ugly OT bible too--(which is no older than roughly 500bce, by the way)

Yes-- do you not believe that your god CREATED people?

And, being .. well.....a GOD, he COULD have created people just as he liked.

But after TWO TRIES, your god STILL CANNOT GET IT RIGHT...!

... meh.

Your god is a loser.

What a surprise? A loser god from the mind of a loser-bible-worshiper....

That means the soldier is at war with all American non-Muslim citizens of America.

How is that different from what Genuine Christards™ do EACH AND EVERY WEEK, when they pledge their lives to their god?

Think carefully before you answer: lying is a SIN, right?
Quite frankly, I think the institution of marriage has been dead anyway. If someone can get divorced so easily, than the initial contract is meaningless and nothing but a farce. They should all, hetero and homo, be civil unions like they do in Europe unless one WANTS to make it a religious marriage, which should be an option. And in civil unions, religion is thrown out, so no problem at all. The only thing that concerns me is human nature. Often, nothing is never enough, and I can see some gay people legally demanding that a Church marry them just so they can stick a finger in the eye of the institution that doesn't like them. That's human nature. Your general tone suggests that you would even be one of those to do this. It's all about hurt feelings and anger.

LOL!!! As Lao Tzu said, those that know do not say, those that say do not know. You know the fragrance of a rose, right? Put it into words. Will they ever accurately describe it? Is it like a mint? Not really. Is it like an orange? Not really. This is called the neti neti for arriving at truth. Not that not that. Truth can never be conceptualized let alone put into words, one can only get closer to it by dropping falsehoods which CAN be put into words because people invent those. People don't invent life or truth, only false ideas of it.

Interesting you'd say that-- among your crowd (Genuine Christians™), the marriage rate is slightly less than 50% successful.

But among the secularists? It's a bit higher. So likely it's due to your ugly bible's prohibitions on everything? Making people crazy?

That could very well be it...
Seeker wrote:

It ought to be extremely hard to marry, and dirt-simple to divorce.

But your ugly bible has made it just the opposite.... why IS that?

I have no issue with that-- strip ALL the marrying-rights IMMEDIATELY from EVERY preacher/priest across the land?

Excellent idea!

While you are at it? Strip out the tax-welfare that churches enjoy too.
Seeker wrote:

But you will HAVE to use the word "marriage".

Because of the *millions* of existing *secular* laws governing that state of being. So you call it "marriage" regardless, so that the *existing* laws can apply equally.

Good. That's progress.

So why do you religious types keep FIGHTING this issue?

I'm not gay. And I would refuse to be "married" in a church-- seeing as how I think all churches are basically leeches on society.

I'd simply go for the license, unless the mrs wanted some sort of ritual-- then, it'd be up to her. Hint: she wouldn't want a church one either, as she'd be as atheist as I am.

I could. The materials are not hard to get-- at all.

Silver wire? Easy as pie. Likely copper wire too, as in the 13th copper was used as jewelry among other things.

Making a battery from scratch? Again: easy as pie-- easier, I don't have to harvest all that fruit.... I can think of at least 5 ways off the top of my head.

Radio is pretty basic stuff, and is not at all hard to do-- even with primitive materials.

It's no boast of mine-- I happen to enjoy studying the history of how humans discovered things. The history of radio, and the history of electricity, are both subjects I've enjoyed studying.

Again: it isn't hard to either do, or discover how easy it is to do.

Lie.

Show me the place where JESUS SPECIFICALLY ABSOLVES YOU OF OT COMMANDS.

Can you do it?

You WILL fail.

And again? SHOW ME JESUS WORDS ON DIVORCE: he repeated what was old Jewish law: easy for a man, near-impossible for a woman.

Your bible is man-centric, and considers women as property of .. men (naturally).

Have you read it?

4 “Haven’t you read,” he replied,“that at the beginning the Creator ‘made them male and female,’[a] 5 and said,‘For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh’[b]? 6 So they are no longer two, but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, let no one separate.”

7 “Why then,” they asked,“did Moses command that a man give his wife a certificate of divorce and send her away?”

8 Jesus replied,“Moses permitted you to divorce your wives because your hearts were hard. But it was not this way from the beginning. 9 I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery.”

Well Eurpoe calls them civil unions, so how did they accomplish that? You want it called marriage to stick a finger in the eye of the institution you hate. I was right when i said that if everyone got civil unions, it still wouldn't be good enough for you and you would sue to get married in a Church even though you have no interest in the Church at all. It would be all out of spite. And people are supposed to like people like you who think this way?

That is insane. Without a doubt.
