Uh huh. A profound thought someone came up with for you. Lucky you.
Basic physics is the basis for what I related. The real stuff.
Or do you believe eyes are black holes that suck up light? Including blue eyes.
It's all a matter of relative strength and sensitivity in a bottle of energy that just gets shuffled around.
Oh, I know! Real physics is branes, parallel universes, virtual particles, and a few dozen or so couldas, maybes, and wouldas tossed in. And a whole bunch of numbers and symbols.
Real physics is those neat documentaries with the cool music and visuals.
Something the simple minded can grasp. And buy into.
You're sorta cute when you get mad, Dave.

Predictable, too.

This was easier. It's obvious to which post you were referring.

"Another point I wanted to reinforce is that THIS is what the church is teaching huge numbers of people - the teaching that many of you say doesn't take place by a church that many of you say doesn't exist because you don't remember hearing a sermon from a pulpit explicitly instructing you to demean and marginalize gays. I don't know exactly when and where this attitude is taught and learned, but it obviously is. Your post and the icons supporting it contrasted with the posting of the unbelievers is the evidence of that."

Let me take a second look.

"I don't know exactly when and where this attitude is taught and learned, but it obviously is."

Hmmm

Should we discuss what you don't know and how you've figured your answer that 'the church' teaches homophobia?

Disco, I'm not sure what you mean by "terminally unique".

Could you elaborate?

You didn't need a rabbi or priest to get to heaven. Jesus cut out the middleman.
I can go on at length about the physics, but won't. I can also go on about the "social" aspects, but won't.
You aren't "trained" to have that belief, but you can be trained toward it. It is going to click or it won't.
The higher force or forces do not owe you an afterlife, but they may appreciate self starters. You are just machinery now. That machinery produced a "soul" that will never "die". But it can be incorporated into a larger existence, or it can be discarded and exist by itself doing nothing. Don't expect to escape "existing" just by dying.
You are being winnowed.

You entered into a conversation in progress with another poster. I had already told him that I rejected his claim. Sorry for any confusion caused by not inserting the phrase "it is my opinion" every time I repeat myself, especially when it is the third time.
In any event, I have made no claims based in absolute morals. I reject the claim pending the arrival of supporting evidence for it.
We both hold a moral value that says it's wrong to rape children.

We apprehend it as an objective moral truth - or at least I do.

What is there to suggest it is not an absolute moral truth? Regardless of what anyone says about that particular moral value, we apprehend it as absolute.

Why would we not? Why would we not think it applies to all possible people, places, and times?

Something I didn’t know about Bill Cosby the comedian/actor. He was a Navy Corpsman and spent 4 years working with war veterans in physical therapy. A lot of these veterans had some very serious wounds and missing limbs.

I just want to say this about military medics. I think that’s the most prestigious position any military man/woman can hold. A lot can be said about heroes but military medics are super heroes in my view. Bill would help you with your left leg. I would too if there was really a need for me to.

Who among the rich are being infected?
The rich live in a world they can be more selective. Plus they tend to put in more hours making money and less on frequent sex than someone living in the ghetto. They are insulated from the masses.
Just who of, and how, are the rich getting infected? That should be very revealing.
Magic Johnson, Rock Hudson, and Arthur Ash were rich

Only Rock was gay

They got it thru unprotected sex or like Ash got it thru a blood transfusion

What are you basing you statement on that those in the ghetto must go around having much more unprotected sex because they have less money?

I'm gonna let you in on a secret and that is women are attracted to money. Women can have sex with just about anybody if they are good looking. They generally don't choose poor guys. Even women that are poor themselves. And most men actually have to put some time into it unless they are really rich. Charley Sheen still preferred the escorts and despite their 'clean bill of health' it can take 7-10 years for the Aids virus to even show up

I meant to read all the posts I missed and then start replying but felt like replying now.

And who is it you think gay people are infecting? Other gay people. I would think that would make you happy. And if you are worried about the spread, why fight gay secular marriage that encourages monogamy? It's not like it is being done as a religious sacrament.

I think the real reason people oppose gay marriage is not because they care about the proud history of the institution of marriage. Where 14 year girls were sold off or where even today people can order their bride thru the mail or win one as a contestant on a reality show or marry for money or insurance or citizenship or convenience and that half end in divorce. It is because they are afraid it will look more 'normal' and they think people can be socially convinced to be gay.

All I have to say to that is those people must have some internal struggle going on. Nobody could socialize me into being gay. I was naturally very attracted to women and no amount of talking could change that.

Fortunately, I have since changed my stance on that. If my son came out and told me that he's gay, I certainly wouldn't like it, I might not talk to him for a time, but I'd still love him.
I've been open and honest about my opinion of homosexuality. I can absolutely accept gays in our culture and even in my life, but I will never consider them as normal.
And because of that outlook, the Topix Atheist! labels me a homophobe.
OK, so let's just say you're one f*cked up dude.

Well, it is tough using a couple of really small chapters describing creation to defend God, but let me give it a try.

~Verse one is the first declaration of the Big Bang theory.

~Created out of the dust of the earth can easily be equated to life springing from amino acids in the earth.

~That earliest human life was originally genderless like Adam is incredibly profound.

~ That life evolved from simple life forms to genders only adds to the profundity. Even more interesting, That separation is reunited in the marriage of a man and woman! How is that for natural roots portrayed even today in marriage???

But I like to use a little known passage about creation that some of the most famous Christian scientists in history used to inspire their ventures into the unknown;

Proverbs 8:22-31 (NASB)
22 "The LORD possessed me at the beginning of His way, Before His works of old.
23 "From everlasting I was established, From the beginning, from the earliest times of the earth.
24 "When there were no depths I was brought forth, When there were no springs abounding with water.
25 "Before the mountains were settled, Before the hills I was brought forth;
26 While He had not yet made the earth and the fields, Nor the first dust of the world.
27 "When He established the heavens, I was there, When He inscribed a circle on the face of the deep,
28 When He made firm the skies above, When the springs of the deep became fixed,
29 When He set for the sea its boundary So that the water would not transgress His command, When He marked out the foundations of the earth;
30 Then I was beside Him, as a master workman; And I was daily His delight, Rejoicing always before Him,
31 Rejoicing in the world, His earth, And having my delight in the sons of men.

Gosh, science just got there with these insights, and here it was, right in front of our eyes! For at least 5000 years!!!

Smile.

Jesus says Christians must follow the laws of the Levites:

"For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven." - Matthew 5:20

Seems RR wants everyone to go to Hell with him.
