Well aren't you just adorable??
Did you say that to your six-month-old before you hit him?

To your wife, before you smacked her?

Or do you just hit, and ask questions later?

Nope. They're Argentinians.
But you've referred to me as Asian. Would you consider HFY Asian, as well? We're from two completely different countries.

Like, before you dropped out.
It's a "Cubans come from Florida" joke.

It's ok to joke, Catch.

C'mon. Give it a try.

What is your absolute moral standard you appeal to to label me immoral?
Why are you stuck on this? Learn this first: there are no absolute moral standards, even for you, since it a subjective choice which moral standards you choose to have faith in and call absolute or objectively true. If absolute and objectively true morals existed, unbelievers would know about them, and people of faith wouldn't argue about what they are.
mtimber wrote:
You can only appeal to an ethical transcendent entity for those absolutes, but you claim there is no God. So you are caught in a contradiction, unless you resolve that you have no basis for an epistemology and therefore no basis for making an argument about morality.
When you are ready to learn about what we think and why rather than tell us what it is, let me know. You need to broaden your horizon. Start with my last post, then consider this:

What if it is later discovered that every sufficiently evolved extraterrestrial culture has arrived at the roughly the same ethical standards, and that there is no god? We can then conclude that there are universal standards of morality ascertained by diverse cultures, but no divine source for them.

No.

I told my wife "OUCH! Stop it or I'm gonna whoop ya!"

Red herring.

You asked me if I thought the Argentinians are American.

The correct answer is no.

If you asked me if they are South American, the correct answer is yes.

There is a difference when you're talking about North America, South America and America.

The USA is the only country in the Western Hemisphere that gets called America.

You never hear someone talking about going on vacation to Argentina saying they're taking a trip to America....

Your insistence that there is no evidence for God reveals your suppression of the concept of truth. To claim the complete absence of evidence means you are claiming omniscience for yourself... After all you have to know all things to say there is no evidence.
"you have to know all things to say there is no evidence"

This is incorrect. Evidence has to be evident to be evidence. If it is hidden, it is not evidence.

Where is your (evident) evidence for your god or any other god? Even if some exists somewhere, if you can't produce any of it, you have no evidence to offer.

"sufficiently evolved"....

By whose standards?

And by what way would that demonstrate that there is no God?

Goddidit is no more of an explanation than Gog did it, dog did it, or it did it itself.

Just as evidence is evident, an explanation explains.

Paul has been used an excuse by Christians to do so for 1700 years.

What's the difference between your kid and your baby?
Don't ya know that your son is your kid always?
You're never done being a dad, Catch.
A baby is a very young child.

Your child can be a "kid" to you forever, but he's no longer a baby once he becomes a toddler. There are stages of development: newborn, baby, toddler, child.

A parent should never--I repeat--NEVER--strike a baby; hit a baby; lay a hand on a baby. Not for any reason. One does not use corporal punishment on a baby. We can disagree on spanking in general, but we're talking about a baby here.

We can continue do discuss this if you like.
