For those that can't enjoy Christmas without Jesus.....well, perhaps you're out of touch.
When it comes to being altruistic, there's definitely no requirement for Jesus. However, people who need Jesus to be altruistic are, quite possibly, dicks.
Hi Khatru. Even without religion, we can still have the old:

Peace on Earth
Goodwill towards men

You've got it backwards. In fact, people that smoke only pot not only don't get lung disease, from "Study: Smoking Marijuana Not Linked with Lung Damage" at http://healthland.time.com/2012/01/10/study-s... , "Marijuana smokers performed better on tests of lung function compared to nonsmokers and cigarette smokers"
<quoted text>
Then perhaps you should stop looking down your nose at what you disparingly call "druggies." I've told you before that you're trusting the wrong people. You've bought into their self-serving paradigm, which profits from criminalizing pot and pushing tobacco. The carnage from each is staggering.
We really, really, RE
The only real gripe I have with pot is that it's usually in a mix with tobacco. After smoking this for years, you are addicted to cigarettes.

Well, that's what I found when I tried to quit.

I'm divided on it. The libertarian in me says that all illicit drugs should be decriminalized. I'd like to put that to the test and see how it works before I give it my firm endorsement. If the carnage is minimal, I'd prefer it to this cruel, unjust, and devastating War on Drugs, which probably causes much more damage than a more permissive policy.
I am considering alcohol prohibition as its subsequent reversal now. The damage done by prohibition far outweighed the damage done by whatever little alcoholism it prevented.
If they did that, it would either be a complete Wild Wild West with everyone dealing and using. Or else there would be plenty who didn't and life would go on the same.

To make something illegal or forbidden is to glamourize it.

They still do have prohibition of alcohol in some Middle Eastern countries.

Hi Rosa

Yes, they're good words and as a message they certainly aren't limited to any one religion.

All we now require is to settle down and put some Hunters and Collectors on.:-)

<quoted text>Apparently you have not. Explain the motivation that a dealer would have for literally giving away free product. It doesn't make any sense. People who want weed will be turned off by weed that has adulterants, and they will get clean weed elsewhere. People who want said "adulterants" (pcp, coke, etc) prefer to buy them unmixed.
What "other things" are "thrown in there?" If you were talking about something like cocaine, then I would agree with you, except that any adulterants would be inactive cut, not extra drugs.
It did not have to be another popular drug. It could be a variety of chemicals to add effect to boost the cost another 10 bucks. There was a lot of experimentation with different chemicals to get a buzz years ago.

You are quite the innocent.

Timmy, I was smoking pot when it was sold by the full ounce, typically 10-20 dollars. I've paid $20 for fully stuffed Baggies of Arkansas homegrown. Some dealers get desperate. Moving back to Miami within a couple of years it was up to $40 a quarter. Oh, all topnotch kickass weed. I've had more than one nasty surprise from a bag. It sure wasn't pot causing those reactions. Some dealers are dishonest. Most were small timers making some profit.

You didn't go to the cops or BBB to complain about the dope you bought.

Your logical fallacy here is the "reductio ad absurdum".

The fallacy follows the idea that if the premises of someone’s argument are taken as true, then it necessarily will lead to absurd conclusions.

Hope this adds to your education.

Your reasoning follows that if we want to avoid drowning, we should not partake of water.

Did this survey cover all the atheists in all the world? Here and in many other countries, there's no such thing as xmas bonuses. Maybe when you guys get dragged into the present it will be the same there.
A survey does not include everyone. That's why they call it a "survey".

Congratulations on escaping bonuses.

You know Buck, statistical surveys are never exact. They tend to cover control groups or areas where many people are not taken into account.
In addition to many countries having no such thing as xmas bonuses, in your country, not every employer gives them out and people who run their own businesses also don't get them.
The survey I referenced was about toothbrushes.

But again, congratulations on avoiding bonuses.

Those who receive them will surely be running in circles wondering how to get rid of them.
