Atheism requires as much faith as religion? bearvspuma : The only problem with this rationalization is that ita s assuming all athiests are so because theya re intelligent in the ways of science and reasoning and all people that believe in a form of god are unintelligent.

<quoted text>Atheism make no positive claim, it is a rejection of a positive claim. All positive claims shoulder the burden of proof. Hang whatever name you please on a position that rejects a positive claim, the person making the assertion must provide proof. Saying that a rejection of a claim required proof is the fallacy of appealing to ignorance.
You err my struthiform friend. Ive often seen you and others make the mistake of asserting positive claims . You athiests should adhere to your own rule book.

<quoted text>What a stupid assumption, of course the absence of evidence IS evidence for absence.
Something is either true of it isn't, either A is, or A isn't, it can't be both. There is ONLY ONE way of determining if A is, or A isn't, and thats science. There is no other methodology that can determine if something is true or not. The tool science uses is EVIDENCE, without evidence, scientific evidence to show that A is, then we KNOW that A isn't . So in FACT, the absence of evidence IS the evidence for absents.
Is that so?

So when the evidence for a nucleus in a cell was absent, cells did not have nuclei.

Evidence of absence is evidence of any kind that suggests something is missing or that it does not exist.

Absence of such evidence means there is no evidence.

If there is no evidence, there is no evidence.

It has ALWAYS existed. People make that claim about God all the time, and without any of the science that accompanies an infinite universe. Or multi-universes.

<quoted text>And around and around we go. How can you prove that something cannot come from nothing is you have NO example of nothing? You can't use the definition reddick tried to use, "Nothing is the absence of anything." Anything that we are aware of certainly, but doesn't take into consideration things we are NOT aware of.
No, we aren't going round and round.

You lost on your proposition, in every way one can lose.

Because Redneck has no evidence for his god, he thinks it is OK to say there is no evidence for lots of other things too.

If there is no evidence, there is no evidence.
And when you've spent over 2000 years looking for evidence, and there's STILL no evidence AND the only offering of evidence (the bible) is proven false, even after claiming itself to be true, THAT'S pretty solid evidence of absence.

But you already knew that.

That's why you bailed on Jesus and defected to "The Designer".

Jesus is NOT going to be pleased with you.

People can make the claim about god because they are not claiming god is matter.

You are making a claim for matter, that it existed.

If matter existed, it had electrons in motion.

What caused this? And when?

I don't know what you mean by cosmic mystery. Can you elaborate?

Of course we seek authority.

But more than that, we seek an authority figure, someone or something that is smarter and stronger than we are.
.. please don't tell me the devil did it, OK ??..
I'm not saying that Satan did it.

But Satan did it.
