We study how this may have happened using materials and science, by testing various bio-chemical reactions with organic matter.
I think we gave up along time ago trying to test for a god, there's no chemicals or reactions that can lead to finding god.
But there is considerable effort toward the discovery of how life came to be , using this methodology.
