According to Christians hell is not a theoretical possibility, it is a real place.<quoted text> What torture are you referring to?..
Mark 9:4748 Jesus alledged said, "[I]t is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into hell, where the worm does not die, and the fire is not quenched." And in Revelation 14:11, John alledgedly wrote: "And the smoke of their torment goes up for ever and ever; and they have no rest, day or night, these worshipers of the beast and its image, and whoever receives the mark of its name."
And again Jesus allegedly said "Enter by the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is easy, that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard, that leads to life, and those who find it are few" (Matt. 7:1314).
So according to church teaching the vast majority of people will spend eternity in agonising hell fire.
So Christians have to go through live pretending to be loving and forgiving, to "love they neighbour" etc. But then in heaven they think they will spend at eternity playing golden harps and singing praises to God, whilst at the same time, the vast majority of mankind will be burning in a lake of fire. They will then adopt a cold blooded, heartless attitude to their fellow humanbeings. That is the sickness at the heart of the "good news".
