Atheism requires as much faith as religion? bearvspuma : The only problem with this rationalization is that ita s assuming all athiests are so because theya re intelligent in the ways of science and reasoning and all people that believe in a form of god are unintelligent.

Y'all started it back in the 60's when school prayer was banned.

And now y'all are whining that the President hosts public prayers...

Hows you're search for Bigfoot going?
Prayer was never banned in schools.

Making other people have to listen to that nonsense was banned.

That's what happens when you rent a brain.
That is not a very clever way of agreeing with me that prayer does not work, but since you agree, I wouldn't say anything.

I have always liked that answer!
fundie, "Prayer works!"
FreeThinker, "Show me."
fundie, "No!"
Normally followed by on of the following:
a: Don't tempt god.
b: You wouldn't believe it anyway.
c: Look at a baby; it's that proof enough?
Or, of course, there is the occasional
fundie, "OK! I'll pray the the sun will rise tomorrow morning!" {giggle}{giggle}
fundie, "OK! I'll pray that you wake up in the morning!" {giggle}{giggle}
Why don't today's believers have the balls that Elijah did?
Hmmm, maybe because Elijah is just another make believe story?
Or, today's christians are just wimps pretending to believe.
Is there a third option?
"Prayer works"

Show you?

You're asking a person on the internet to show you?

Are you praying to said person on the internet?

Only God can show you that prayer works, you'll have to ask Him.

Loch Ness monster believers don't fight scientific progress in the name of Nessie. They don't flood billions of dollars through various political activities to enforce their beliefs at the cost of other's safety and happiness.

Bullshit.
If that were true, you atheists wouldn't spend so much time arguing with theists and arguing about religion and arguing whether or not God is real.
If you really truly didn't care, you wouldn't be here.
We wonder if you atheists spend so much time arguing whether or not the Loch Ness monster is real.

Not all Christians believe Jesus is god and not all Christians are trinitarians. So if you belong to a non trinitarian church Jesus would not be your god.

Didn't Elijah show people that your god is all powerful and can light fires from heaven? With drenched wood nonetheless! Don't you think that your god could put on a little show for us?

What he said is an actual Bill Maher quote. You can YouTube up him saying it.

So when will buck become your Gracie?

Dave= George Burns look alike with magnets instead of jokes.
Dave Nelson wrote:
<quoted text>
"Maher is highly critical of religion, and views it as highly destructive. He is described as an agnostic, and refers to himself as one in his feature film Religulous.[52] As for labels, he has denied being an atheist, saying, "I'm not an atheist. There's a really big difference between an atheist and someone who just doesn't believe in religion. Religion to me is a bureaucracy between man and God that I don't need. But I'm not an atheist, no."[53] Maher has also occasionally referred to himself as an "apatheist", saying "I don't know what happens when you die, and I don't care", adding, "there's Atheist and there's Agnostic, and I'm okay with us not splitting the difference on those; if you are just not a super-religious person, you are on my team".[54][55] He has reiterated his stance in subsequent interviews, rejecting both the certitude of the existence, as well as the certitude of nonexistence of deities, concluding, "I'm saying that doubt is the only appropriate response for human beings."[56] He is an advisory board member of author Sam Harris's Project Reason, a foundation that promotes scientific knowledge and secular values within society."

The comedian Bill Maher's own words. They don't seem to match with what you allege in that quote you made.

Some communists were atheists many were not. Communism and atheism are far different no matter what Faux News told you. Hitler was a vegetarian so do you want to call his crimes vegetarian murders? Millions of dead because of vegetarianism?

Not even you would be that stupid. Close but not that stupid. Again I ask and again you will run away because you weren't programmed on how to answer this question. Name the totalitarian leader who said we do this in the name of atheism? Show the quote?

Naturally you can't.
