I used to pretend that the carpet was lava.
I would jump around on the furniture to avoid an excruciating death.
It must have looked crazy to those people that didn't know that the carpet was lava.
How did the furniture (which was sitting on the lava) not melt & burn?

There's just no profit in it.
How much profit is there for America to spend 75.7 billion dollars in 2011 (4 times higher than 4 years previous) to feed 46 million people?

Do your part or shut up about it.

Atheism is not a cause worth dying for.
Neither is Christianity.

Don't blame starvation on unrelated science research. You just look even more foolish, if that's possible.
And if you insist on reasoning that way, how many children could the money spent on the Iraq war have fed?
I wasn't passing judgment, I was merely pointing out how ridiculously hypocritical your morality is.

I don't have to pray for a sign. It's going to come anyway and you all will witness it in your appointed time.
I have always liked that answer!

fundie, "Prayer works!"

FreeThinker, "Show me."

fundie, "No!"

Normally followed by on of the following:

a: Don't tempt god.
b: You wouldn't believe it anyway.
c: Look at a baby; it's that proof enough?

Or, of course, there is the occasional

fundie, "OK! I'll pray the the sun will rise tomorrow morning!" {giggle}{giggle}

fundie, "OK! I'll pray that you wake up in the morning!" {giggle}{giggle}

Why don't today's believers have the balls that Elijah did?

Hmmm, maybe because Elijah is just another make believe story?

Or, today's christians are just wimps pretending to believe.

Is there a third option?

And now y'all are whining that the President hosts public prayers...

Hows you're search for Bigfoot going?
Prayer was never banned in schools.

Making other people have to listen to that nonsense was banned.

That is not a very clever way of agreeing with me that prayer does not work, but since you agree, I wouldn't say anything.

"Prayer works"

Show you?

You're asking a person on the internet to show you?

Are you praying to said person on the internet?

Only God can show you that prayer works, you'll have to ask Him.

Loch Ness monster believers don't fight scientific progress in the name of Nessie. They don't flood billions of dollars through various political activities to enforce their beliefs at the cost of other's safety and happiness.

Bullshit.
If that were true, you atheists wouldn't spend so much time arguing with theists and arguing about religion and arguing whether or not God is real.
If you really truly didn't care, you wouldn't be here.
We wonder if you atheists spend so much time arguing whether or not the Loch Ness monster is real.

Not all Christians believe Jesus is god and not all Christians are trinitarians. So if you belong to a non trinitarian church Jesus would not be your god.
