Eagle12 wrote: <quoted text> Thank you Doctor for taking the time to respond to my post. You put your faith in science? Did you know that science can get it wrong? And more often than not it has gotten it wrong. Leaving a long history of death in its wake. Buildings that implode, bridges that fail, cars that explode on impact, botched formulas, machines that come apart in use, electrocutions…………….. Science, my good Doctor doesn’t have this squeaking clean image when you look into it’s history. Yes, of course you're right, think how much better off we would be without science. 1.) No clean water, or fresh food. 2.) No sewerage treatment plants. 3.) No refrigeration, or plumbing. 4.) No communication, automobiles or airplanes. 5.) No electricity, aid conditioning, or heating. 6.) No medical advancements, or vaccines. 7.) ABSOLUTELY NO UNDERSTANDING OF HOW THE WORLD AROUND YOU WORKS. Yes without science we would be much better off. Life expectancy would be around 30 years old, plagues would continue to wipe out millions with regularity. The numbers of still born babies equivalent to those during the dark ages. A mere infect could kill you or your loved ones. sanitary conditions would be something you can't even imagine, or course accompanied by a variety of nasty diseases. And in the end, without science you would still be huddled in the back of your cave banging two bones together asking the thunder God to bring more game. You go right ahead and deny science, I'll take my chances with a building falling on my head, or getting electrocuted. I figure it's a worthy risk considering the myriad of things science does to make MY LIFE BETTER. Sorry it's not working for you. Oh, By the way, without the fact of evolution, there would be zero medical advancements in the treatment of a whole bunch of diseases. Now, good sir, back to your cave and get busy with those bones!!!!!!

Advocated for better shelters and more homes for the homeless. Adopted stray animals. Volunteer teacher for the developmentally disabled. Voluntarily teaching free classes to the homeless on computer skill ranging from common use to programming. Assist many people interested in coding careers with their class work, for free. Helping people locate resources to help with their needs just to help them. Then of course there's the holding the doors and such for those who need it without grumbling about it, but that's just common courtesy.

Consider the god mentioned in the book, consider the "suffer for all eternity" punishment for not believing, consider the genocides that are easily justified by the doctrine, consider the indoctrination. You'd have to be sadistic, tyrannical, or completely insane to believe that's a good doctrine to follow, much less to consider that a "loving" deity. Most may not be that bad, but it attracts sadists, it also hides sadistic behaviors very well. When you worship something sadistic, you have to approve or like sadism.

The Christian belief system attracts irresponsible people and justifies the shirking of personal responsibility. I can grok that.

Most may not be that bad, but it attracts sadists, it also hides sadistic behaviors very well. When you worship something sadistic, you have to approve or like sadism. But you know, and I know, that that is not what motivates most people to Christianity.

We've got cleaners for that reason. But I still couldn't get a large percentage of the world's fauna on board. And wtf happened to the Giant Redwoods in the great flood?
