Atheism requires as much faith as religion? bearvspuma : The only problem with this rationalization is that ita s assuming all athiests are so because theya re intelligent in the ways of science and reasoning and all people that believe in a form of god are unintelligent.

Atheist have to believe in evolution. They don’t have a choice. A Christian doesn’t have to believe it. Some do and some like myself don’t. It’s completely optional to us.
I had it in high school but it was brief and we moved on.
Those that dedicate to a specific science major in college get more evolution indoctrination. Especially those in archeology, biology, anthropology.
My Son will soon graduate with his second graduate degree and this one will be in science. He had the evolution courses recently. And they failed at the university level to sway him to believe in evolution.
Tim, millions of people believe in it because they were taught that. And millions don’t believe it like myself. We have been talking about whales lately. There’s very sparse fossil evidence. Some fossils but not enough to show a transition from a deer to a whale.
Evolutionist will take one fossil, a jawbone and hand full of other bones then jump for joy. Claiming this is the link. The undeniable evidence. They’re going to have to do a hell of a lot better than that.
Human fossil evidence is even more sparse. A bone here, a fragment there, another fragment. Pile on top of that a lot of hype and you have evolution.
Eagle...there were atheists before the theory of evolution existed. It's not a requirement for disbelieving in silly imagined deities.

I could explain to you each and every fossil hominin, what evidence was used to place it, why and how professionals do that.

But each time I take the time to explain it to you, it falls on deaf ears. You are willfully ignorant. As Timn writes, anything that contradicts your beliefs is white noise, no matter how rational, logical, evidence based.

Which means you really don't think like we do. It's like you're living in a different universe where the rules of logic don't apply. You're an example of what Sam Harris means when he says (something like) "you cannot reason with someone who doesn't respect logic or who cannot think rationally. They're not interested and they don't care."

I'm going to argue in an upcoming paper that liking and not liking parasitic worms is cultural. Developed nations find them utterly disgusting, but many low-tech cultures believe they're essential for health.

Helminth worms. Ascaris, hookworm, whipworm. But for auto-immune disorders, you want something that doesn't cause so many symptoms, so people are trying pig worms (Trichuris suis).

How would low tech cultures know they were beneficial? Wouldn't that take a bit of modern scientific expertise and study to figure out?

Caution, your answer may be used against you,

It's funny to pop in every once in a while at my leisure and see all the atheists that don't have enough faith in their disbelief as atheists.

Nothing pleases me more than seeing the failures and worries of atheists.

Their anger, empty excuses , and outbursts of Christian persecution proves my point.

What is you problem with religious people? What have I done or said to you, that you keep calling me delusional? huh? some atheists are fanatics too, it seems!
ok, kitten and u guys goodnite! it's too late now, i have to get some sleep! sweet dreams guys!!:)
It's concern for the human species and general safety of humanity. When a person who maintains a delusional state congregates with others who support that delusion it eventually turns into violence or progresses into something worse, and then we see the Salem witch hunts all over again. Crowds of delusional people will hide and mask even more dangerous behaviors and exceptionally unstable individuals, preventing us from finding them before it's too late. Do you prefer we wait until murderers kill, then have to put them to death because they are beyond help?

Delusion also opens the door for many other abusive behaviors, such as drug and alcohol abuse. Of course I haven't even gotten to the fact that religion teaches people to be weak, useless, and incapable as a method of it's indoctrination.

Perhaps instead of looking to mythology for false strength and support, you should find where your own personality is lacking, and correct that. Of course what you do with your life is not really the important factor. In the US many people are denied the ability to help themselves because of religious notions, ideas, that are intended to keep them weak. That's the big issue I have with it, and I will not rest until I see those injustices ended, or religion gone from the planet.
