What I.S did to James Foley is abhorrent, rest assured that his execution is seen as cowardly and repulsive by the vast majority of Brits. The sooner the perpetrator is identified and brought to justice (preferably the less tolerant US justice) the better.<quoted text>
The recent beheading of an American Journalist James Foley by a British jihadist in Iraq. Brings to mind another American that died at the hands of the Brits. He was Nathan Hale and it was back in September 22, 1776.
Nathan was a young School Teacher and member of the Continental Army fighting for Americas independence in what is now New York City. The young officer was captured by the British while on a intelligence gathering mission.
Nathan Hale will be forever remembered for his last words spoken to the British right before they hanged him in a apple orchard. "I only regret that I have but one life to give for my country."
James Foley like Nathan Hale died an American Patriot at the hands of a British Citizen. This tragic event brings to light how much we Americans enjoy the 4th of July. For God and Country. America the land of the free and home of the brave! I salute an American patriot James Foley.
However American patriotism?
Ahh you mean like those patriotic Americans who killed my grandfather
My grandfather was a British agent working with the French resistance to help pave the way for the D Day landings.
He was shot in the head by invading US troops for daring to protest and try to protect a French girl (another resistance member assisting the landings) from being gang raped by 6 of those US troops.
So in you view rape is patriotic?
