John Stockwell, former CIA official (From His books, Speeches...)

" The CIA had been running thousands of operations over the years... there have been about 3,000 major covert operations and over 10,000 minor operations... all designed to disrupt, destabilize, or modify the activities of other countries... But they are all illegal and they all disrupt the normal functioning, often the democratic functioning, of other societies. They raise serious questions about the moral responsibility of the United States in the international society of nations.

A [UN-sponsored] truth commission report has concluded that the United States gave money and training to a Guatemalan military that committed 'acts of genocide' against the Mayan people during the most brutal armed conflict in Latin America, Guatemala's 36-year civil war [196(}1996]. The report of the independent Historical Clarification Commission, which was released on Thursday, contradicts years of official denial about the torture, kidnapping and execution of thousands of civilians in a war that the commission estimated killed more than 200,000 Guatemalans.

Howard Zinn - US historian

The United States has consistently opposed the, creation of an international war crimes tribunal because it could be used against people in the U.S. government and military. They are very explicit about it. In effect, the government is saying, "Yes, we have people who could be accused of having committed war crimes." The United States wants to find other people who have committed war crimes, but an American by definition cannot commit a war crime.

Well if you lose your head "literally" you will no longer have any consciousness.

This is how you see things.

A drop of water makes a lens and reverses images. This is also done with glass. Interaction of light and matter. Covers a lot of territory.

You have matter spread all through the universe. Lots and lots of plasma fields. Lots and lots of dust. Even water vapor. Lots and lots of distance they say, too. Quite a bit of light, also.

You can take a thin sheet of plastic and other materials to make a lens and distort the image of the source that produced light.

Distance, mass, wavelength all come together to form an image in your brain.

The atmosphere is a lens, or rather a shifting collection of them.

The fact is what you see isn't looking like what sent it. Too much distortion that you can't take into account all of the variables causing it. Hard physical and scientific fact. Yet your "science"says things are absolute from their observations.

What causes a rainbow? Water droplets hit from the correct angle. Enough to change the color of that area and every other source of light that passes through. That's just through a few miles. Ionosphere? Plasma warping light.

You don't see much in the way of accounting for those distortions and having them entered into the equations.

Makes you wonder.

Is that being esoteric?

Former U.N weapons inspector Scott Ritter, Boston, 2001, about planned US war on Iraq
The First Casualty. editorial

In These Times, Nov 2002. p1

The national security of the United States of America has been hijacked by a handful of neoconservatives who are using their position of authority to pursue their own ideologically driven political ambitions, and the day we go to war for that reason is the day that we have failed collectively as a nation.

James Petras interview

The Coup and Chavez's future

International Social Review, May-June 2002, p14

The real issue is that the U.S. wants to overthrow [Pres. Hugo Chavez] to put Venezuela in line with their other clients in Latin America and knock down the only government that offers an alternative foreign policy for the whole region. They don't want that alternative present.

That's why this coup was planned, directed, and financed by the Bush administration. It wasn't just the CIA. The assistant secretary of state for Western hemisphere affairs was involved - I'm talking about the Cuban terrorist exile Otto Reich. I'm talk ing about people like Elliot Abrams, who was in the Reagan administration and involved in justifying the killings in Central America, which amounted to 300,000 deaths. I'm talking about John Negroponte, the U.S. ambassador to the UN, who was involved with the death squads in Honduras.

I could give you a longer list. But you get an idea - you have thugs running U.S. policy in Latin America, who are capable not only of overthrowing a government but engaging in the kind of violent repression that was launched in those 24 hours of the coup [against Hugo Chave

You can have consciousness when the body's neurosystem is malfunctioning or the sensory inputs and outputs get shut off. Sleeping does that to a degree.

Do amputees have reduced consciousness when the balance of inputs and ouputs connected to the brain gets scrambled?

You consider these things way too simplistic. You must be a fundie of some sort.

You don't fully awake until you leave this noise and confusion, uIDiot.
I am quite familiar with human natire and have suffered a whole bunch because of it. A sensitive soul that ran a gauntlet of treachery and deceit for a long time. But instead of overreacting I tried to understand the reasons for it. This is why I can't hate or blame others. Don't have to accept them or believe they have a right to exist, but I can forgive them on my personal level. They are lost in this fog just like me, looking for a guiding light out of it. You haven't reached that level yet. You are still suffering from disillusionment and trying to extinguish those lights and trying to replace with your projections. Like I have said before, try understanding the reasons, and not kneejerk reacting to them. That's the scientific method, and it may have longer lasting benefits on your personal level.
You won't find the answers here from the outside, but from the inside.

Yes you can have all sorts of altered states of consciousness, provided you have a brain and neurosystem. But That isn't what we are asking is it?
You wont have any consciousness without a head, at least not from about 30 seconds after it's disconnected.

The head won't have one, but you can't be sure about the consciousness that resided there for a while.
