"The God of the Qur'an is arguably the most unpleasant character in all fiction: jealous and proud of it; a petty, unjust, unforgiving control-freak; a vindictive, bloodthirsty ethnic cleanser; a misogynistic, homophobic, racist, infanticidal, genocidal, filicidal, pestilential, megalomaniacal, sadomasochistic, capriciously malevolent bully.

In contrast, literary critic Terry Eagleton, theologian Alister McGrath, and science philosopher Michael Ruse have accused Dawkins of being ignorant of theology
and
therefore unable to engage religion and faith intelligently

while scientists Martin Rees and Peter Higgs have criticised Dawkins's confrontational stance towards religion as unhelpful, with Higgs going as far as to label him a fundamentalist

This question has been asked many times. You need scientific proof.
If god was factual, it would already be part of science. But it isn't because all religious people are liars, with no evidence of god since the history of recorded time.
Every religious person who says they have evidence never has ANY physical evidence. It all comes from stories in their mind - ie delusions.
The mistake is arrogant and often depressed religious people taking their psychological illness to mean something important, when in fact its an illness that requires treatment.
There is no god, people need to get well again to start living in the real world.
Since the history of recorded time God chose specific people to deliver a message that guarantees people success in this life and the hereafter; it wouldn't be easy or I would say impossible to believe anyone who claims that he was sent by god or a prophet and/or messenger of god, that's why god gave those people (prophets) some miracles to prove their prophecies.

the miracle is an event not ascribable to human power or the laws of nature, I know you don't believe in previous stories or prophets, but lets Just assume you were at the time of Moses and you were an experienced magician who knows a lot about visual tricks and was challenged by Moses who threw a rope and transferred it into a real snake which ate your fake rope, or if you were at the time of Jesus and saw him talking when he was a baby or witnessed him curing the blind and/or giving life to the dead, every prophet had a specific miracle to prove his prophecy and his honesty, those miracles were different and those miracles depend on the time and nature of people at that time, Moses for instance was sent at a time and a place where people practiced magic , Jesus was sent to specialized people in medicine, there are numerous stories about prophets and each one of them had his own miracle.

Mohammed is supposed to be the last messenger , so he also was given a miracle which is the Quran, a lot of people think that Quran is only a book of rules and ancient stories..!! although its supposed to be the last miracle which was given to the last prophet of the last message, and unlike all religions , the religion of Islam is to all humans on this planet not only for a specific tribe or people, Mohammed was sent to people of Mekkah; and people of Mekkah were the best in Arabic language and poetry so god challenged them to get a book like the Quran, 10 Chapters and finally 1 chapter, the miraculous way and the perfection in the Quranic verses can be noticed by anyone who knows the basics of Arabic language.

Mohammed's miracle is supposed to be the last miracle thus it should remain to the end of days, the Quran contains numerous signs and confirms some scientific facts, some of these scientific facts were impossible to be known at the time of Mohammed and were proved only recently, I believe the Quran contains lots of scientific facts which are still not discovered and can be discovered by the continuous improvement of science.
you couldn't witness any of the previous prophets' miracles but you have an open invitation to judge the last miracle.

The thing is cause and effect works both ways. Effects tell us much about the cause. So yes we should be able to know something about Gods universe.
The pen can also tell us whether the claims of religions actually make any sense.
Neither myself, you or any scientist knows if there was nothing or what nothing even means.
You though do believe there was something, your God. You believe he just exists without any explanation, so why not some other possible cause for the universe such as energy or some spark that caused a chain reaction leading to the Big Bang?
A God is not the only or most likely cause.
yes I believe that there was the creator first, but I am not sure if we can refer to him as something, because something would still have a beginning and an end but the creator doesn't have a begging nor end and we have 99 names and attributes of the creator and numerous verses and authentic hadiths about him , and as you said Effects tell us much about the cause but then we would need an effect or a couple of effects.

So far we have 2 probabilities; its whether god created the universe or the universe just came out spontaneously, science cannot disprove god, so why did you choose to go with the second probability ??!

Creationist liars attack Dawkins, because they cannot attack Atheism.

Notice how religious liars will not form their own arguments, instead copy paste creationist opinions.

Neither Alistair McGrath nor Michael Ruse are respected people - both religious liars.

Nice try, but evangelical is a religious word and you religious liars have no evidence of god to speak of.

That is why you attack atheists constantly in their own forum.

And you call this evidence? Ideologies, whether policitical, religious, or sectarian, prevent men and women from using their brains and thinking clearly. People become veiled by preconceived notions of good and evil. You can call it brain fogging.

I have not seen any attacks perpetrated here by either Christian or Islamic posters, but, rather, only by athiests. It is this unreasonable anger directed at them which bothers me. There is little real discussion, only rudeness.
Athiests own forum? This thread was supposedly about an article(which I actually read)in which Richard Dawkins sees little wrong with pedophilia. This topic has hardly been touched, and has been hijacked to bash Creationist theory, and their proponents.

You're a CLASS A idiot if you think Dawkins agrees with pedophilia. Its YOUR mental problem.

If you are defending faith in the Atheism forum, you need to present evidence for god, or prepare to be questioned.

Religion is a fraud that has no evidence for god. When you can make actual points, you will get to talk.

Religious believers have failed to provide evidence for their belief using scriptures so how can you blame us non-believers to back you up? When someone comes here and says "Koran or Bible is the true word of God" cannot expect to go unchallenged.

I did not say that. I said that was the topic of the article. I look for an actual discussion and none is offered here. I have not told you you have a mental problem and have yet to see you make a single actual point. I have not stated my beliefs or lack thereof, I have loved ones in both camps and have no reason to defend either.
I will talk as and when I wish. It is a public forum. I require no permission from you to speak, ask questions or to point out that the current discussion you wish to engage in has absolutely nothing to do with the subject matter presented at the origin of the thread.
Furthermore, I will do so without personal attack, overt emotional response or rudeness. Whether I am a Christian or not, I will remain a lady. All I ask is that others show the same level of respect for each other, as some of the gentlemen of faith do. That simple show of gentility is far more persuasive than your callous derision.
