No...other than most wars, the Crusades, the Inquisitions, 9/11 blowing up girl's schools, suppression of women and homosexuals, arranged marriages to minors, ethnic cleansing, the systematic raping of children, human sacrifice, burning witches, suicide bombings, condoning slavery.....if one can just overlook a few things it's never done any harm.

Actually there's one thing even worse than those previously mentioned.....brainwashing infants and small children with that 2000 year old fairy tale written by ignorant goat and camel herders who believed in witches and thought the earth was flat.

I'll tell you what. If anyone thinks religion would have made it past the first century without the brainwashing of innocent children go for a few dozen years and don't do it. Religion is on it's way out anyway. The youth of today are smarter than that:

http://religion.blogs.cnn.com/2012/10/09/surv...

Washington The fastest growing "religious" group in America is made up of people with no religion at all, according to a Pew survey showing that one in five Americans is not affiliated with any religion.

The number of these Americans has grown by 25% just in the past five years, according to a survey released Tuesday by the Pew Forum on Religion and Public Life.

The survey found that the ranks of the unaffiliated are growing even faster among younger Americans.

Thirty-three million Americans now have no religious affiliation, with 13 million in that group identifying as either atheist or agnostic, according to the new survey.

Pew found that those who are religiously unaffiliated are strikingly less religious than the public at large. They attend church infrequently, if at all, are largely not seeking out religion and say that the lack of it in their lives is of little importance.

If children weren't infected by religious indoctrination until they were say 16 or 18, we'd end this crap in a generation.
<quoted text>
It's on it's way out anyway. When I was in elementary school in the early 1940's a typical day for third and fourth graders began with the pledge of allegiance and the class saying the lord's prayer in unison. On Mondays the teachers assigned bible verses to each student for them to memorize and recite back to the class on Thursdays and Fridays. Now that schools are absolutely forbidden from doing that sort of thing the brainwashing the kids get at home isn't immediately supported by other figures of authority. Many of the Christians are sending their kids to church schools to keep that embracing of the home teachings alive. Their problem.....most families cannot afford the extra expense of a private school.

Knowledge of the real world and the laying aside of ancient myths is what will be the death of religion. I keep going back to this but a smart man had a vision a long time ago and when the crap finally vanishes his prediction will finally pass muster and he can quit turning in his grave:

"The day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus, by the supreme being as his father in the womb of a virgin will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerva in the brain of Jupiter. But we may hope that the dawn of reason and freedom of thought in these United States will do away with all this artificial scaffolding." ~Thomas Jefferson~

Excerpt from his letter to John Adams, April 1823
