The thing I don't like about Richard Dawkins is that he is almost always right.
Every time I read one of his books or watch a video of him, I get a bad neck from nodding my head in agreement.
Dawkin,s is a little bit of sanity in a world gone mad.

THE world's best-known atheist, anti-religion campaigner Richard Dawkins, will visit Melbourne for the biggest ever atheist convention next March, organisers announced yesterday.

Other speakers include P. Z. Myers, who runs the world's biggest science blog, philosophers Peter Singer and A.C. Grayling, former evangelical pastor Dan Barker, science journalist Robyn Williams, broadcaster Phillip Adams and Age columnist Catherine Deveny.

Atheist Foundation of Australia president David Nicholls said the conference at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre would be ''a history-making'' event.

''We think Australia is ripe for something like this because there's a lot of unhappiness, with atheists thinking they are not getting a fair cut of the pie, socially, psychologically or politically,'' Mr Nicholls said.

He said the conference was suggested by the Atheists' Alliance International, which holds its annual atheist conventions in the United States and wanted to branch out.

But the $500,000 conference, from March 12-14, would be funded solely by ticket sales, with speakers offering their services free.

BARNEY ZWARTZ
Barney Zwartz you have just pulled the "stupid" mantle right up over your head, with the high priest statement you have reinforced the fundie belief that atheism is a religion and that there is no existance without an outside force controling all humans, god for the christians and satan for every body else..

Barney may not be to blame for the headline--many newspapers and journals have headline writer for just that purpose, who go for anything that seems snappy whether it accurately reflects the article or not.

I'd give my eye teeth to know what the headline writer's religious views are...

That is almost a given, the writer would most likely be among that grouping which will hold on to the atheism is a religion spiel until they burst..........non-atheist

the fundies say that atheism is a belief system. I would like to see that support be employed in affirming atheism as a religion with the governments of the world.

That would give atheists tax protection for their meeting places, and tax protection for their charities, like education, health care, etc.

atheism would become as protected as any other "religion"

I'm more of a good boy bass player, and I went into the studio with my band today to begin work on a new album.

Life is good.
