David Berlinski, PH.D from Princeton
Are all these atrocities in the name of religion? The Vatican,
if memory serves, is not involved in murder of innocent people.
However, religious fanatics are very involved, and the response
needs to be swift and final, in spite of the weaponry that is in the hands of the super powers. If you want to roll over and
play dead, the result may well be other World Trade Center
fiasco's. I would expect that Dr. Berlinski is a resident and not a teaching professor at the university.

In effect you are claiming in 1992 the Democratic Party wanted a theocracy.

Oops more words you can't understand.

The Soviet Union had a long history of state atheism,[10] in which social success largely required individuals to profess atheism, stay away from churches and even vandalize them; this attitude was especially militant during the middle Stalinist era from 1929-1939. The Russian Orthodox Church, which had 54,000 parishes before World War I, was reduced to 500 by 1940.

It would be wiser to read the entire article in the future...
This will prevent 'shooting yourself in the foot' so often!

State atheism in the Soviet Union (gosateizm) attempted to stop the spread of religious beliefs as well as remove "prerevolutionary remnants".

Although all religions were persecuted, the regime's efforts to eradicate religion, however, varied over the years with respect to particular religions, and were affected by higher state interests.

Official policies and practices not only varied with time, but also in their application from one nationality and one religion to another.

Nationality and religion were always closely linked, and the attitude toward religion varied from a total ban on some religions to official support of others.

In Russia, the 2007 International Religious Freedom Report published by the US Department of State said that approximately 100 million citizens consider themselves Russian Orthodox Christians.

Cuba began arresting many believers and shutting down religious schools after the Bay of Pigs Invasion, its prisons since the 1960s being filled with clergy.

In 1961 The Cuban government confiscated Catholic schools, including the Jesuit school Fidel Castro had attended. In 1965 it exiled two hundred priests.

The Communist Party of Cuba defines one of its aims as "the gradual overcoming of religious beliefs by materialistic scientific propaganda and the cultural advancement of the workers."

From 1976 to 1992, the Constitution of Cuba contained a clause stating that the "socialist state...bases its activity on, and educates the people in, the scientific materialist concept of the universe".

In 1992, the Communist Party of Cuba has allowed religious believers to join. Since the fall of the Soviet Union, Cuba has amended its statutes to declare itself a "secular state" rather than atheistic.

And your point was???

Ah yes, the method of justifying your hatred, you claim to "hate the sin," putting aside that "sin" is a completely fabricated thing, yet you do actually hate the "sinner." Lest you would not condemn them for what they are and simply ignore it.

I guess you just do not understand what the word "without" means. Sorry I dont have time to explain it to you.

Others, with more smarts, will understand that when I say "without the sin", I am indicating sin has ZERO to do with anything.

If you were able to read - and understand - you would have seen, and understand, my reference to ignorance being the cause of contempt, not any 'sin'.

Ignorance is not a sin, simply a charcter flaw.

I undersatnd that your private little groups think ignorance is sufficient to be an atheist, but really, in your private lives you need to try to rise about pure ignorance.

Bullshit. Being "officially atheist" is irrelevant.

Communism is an extremist ideology.
All religions are extremist ideologies.
Every atrocity throughout history was perpetrated by an extremist ideology - and nearly all of them by religious ideology.

There is no difference in their policies or actions, only their motivating dogma. The only reason communist countries banned religion is to prevent competition for power, NOT because they were opposed to religion.

Vietnam has more than 30 million deluded religious believers and has total freedom of religion, even though it is "officially atheist". Why? Because religion never tried to overthrow the communist government. The Vietnamese put national identity ahead of religion and politics.

Also, could a belief in 'mental disorder' be considered to be religious?

You don't ask enough questions about the true origin your cult.

You can redeem yourself and your faith. EVEN convert atheists! PTL!

If you expect to convince anyone of your faith you should be able to promptly answer these two simple questions.

If you cannot answer these, ask your clergy for assistance.

Remember... they know the unknowable and can easily explain this... right? They would not lie to you would they?

1) Is there any evidence that proves your God to be the only true God in a way that religions other than your own cannot produce?

2) Is there any evidence that proves your holy book is true in a way that religions other than yours cannot do with their books?

PS: It is the 21st century... you know its a myth...;-)

Oh yeah... You will NOT be able to answer those two questions!
You should tho!

We have no historical proof Jesus even existed so saying he was a good man is relative to say Luke Skywalker was a good man.

Show me an atheist that said they are positive there is no afterlife. Go ahead.... Any year now....

Oh and this is the atheist forum so if anyone is trolling here it's fundamentalist Christians like you.

Wait, you probably can't even understand this.... Hablas Ingles?

At worst, religion is brainwashing. It is cultism, the indoctrination of people against their will as children, or by the desperate as adults, who participate in a waste of time and money - or just as often, a terrorist organization that perpetrates crimes and then covers them up. That includes crimes like bombing buildings, murdering people when their leaders demand it, the rape and molestation of children, etc.
Those crimes are perpetrated by every religion, not just one. Terrorist muslims blow up IEDs in Iraq, and christian terrorists like Eric Rudolph blow up bombs in the US at abortion clinics. Saudis flew planes into buildings on 9/11 killing thousands of innocents, and the US military deliberately drops bombs on thousands of innocents in Afghanistan in the name of christianity (while clearing land for an oil pipeline). What's the difference?

if fanatical about religion, you`ll get messed up big time..

Senseless.
Why didn't you ask my if I use potatoes or peaches to make an apple pie?
It would have made more sense.

As I have stated several times

A special transmission outside the scriptures;
Depending not on words and letters;
Pointing directly to the human mind;
Seeing into one's nature, one becomes a Buddha.

You lose.

no rituals.
no ersistence of peraonal identity.
