Why Atheism Will Replace Religion

Aug 27, 2012 Full story: News24 14,477

Please note that for this article "Atheism" also includes agnostics, deists, pagans, wiccans... in other words non-religious.

You will notice this is a statement of fact. And to be fact it is supported by evidence (see references below). Now you can have "faith" that this is not true, but by the very definition of faith, that is just wishful thinking. Full Story

Yeah. I'm a professional in the field of evolution. I have forgotten quite a bit more than you've read in news pieces.
If you are a "professional in evolution" as you claim what are you, janitor in a lab does not count. There is no scientific evidence for the theory of evolution.

Have you seen the code? Do you know how it works? It's messy, full of disorganization written atop disorganization. It looks exactly as if evolution produced it and nothing like it was designed.
Lennox is merely re-presenting the argument from the design inference. He's looking at the results of unguided processes and concluding they were guided. His approach necessitates not understanding how matter organizes. Natural selection is apparent design, not design.
He is certainly welcome to make that inference of course. He's incapable of producing a model that explains the design inference, though, which is is why it will only ever be an inference. To turn the design inference into science, you'd have to frame it through a theoretical model that is both predictive and explanatory.
Disorganization written atop disorganization????? Hmmmm,... maybe you are missing something.

It looks like the theists have reached the end of their argument. They've recycled the argument from design, the watchmaker, the first cause and...uh...that's about it. Over and over.
Why don't they have better arguments? Why can't they do more with their belief system?
Ignore you have scientific evidence for evolution please post it right here.

Sounds like you want to play a game of Russian Roulette believing you don't have a care in the world because the old guy that loads the gun can't remember if he put a bullet in the chamber.
But for argument's sake, imagine if the atheists is correct. We would all have tombstones that say "All Dressed up and Nowhere to Go" and Rev R. Dawkins would preside over the eulogy at the First Church of the Six foot Hole in The Ground with assorted non religious icons like shovels and a photo of Madelyn Murray O'Hair on the altar.
Hey, I hate to break this to you, but your personal desires don't dictate reality.

So if you want to write that on your tombstone, go right ahead. It won't make a difference, except in what people take from the words.

No, no Colin, it does not. It's quite cute that you think so, though.

Does the English alphabet also prove your deity? Try it with me: a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i, j, k, l, m, n, o, p, q, r, s, t u, v, w, x, y and z. Now you know your abcs, won't you please, sing with me?

Nah. All scientific evidence demonstrates evolution. There's not a single scientific paper that disputes that published in the last 160 years.

But, by all means, present one. Just one.

Not only do I highly doubt that, but I'm 100% that they didn't kill more than Islam did.
Bet you didn't win the lottery either.

According to University of Hawaii political scientist Rudolph J. Rummel, the total number killed in all of human history is estimated to be about 284,638,000. Of that number, 151,491,000 were killed during the past 100 years. The single largest killer in all of human history is, by far, atheistic communism with a total of 110,000,000, over 1/3 of all people ever killed. If we add to that number just two other regimes where religion of any sort was strongly discouraged, Nazi Germany and Nationalist China, the number rises to 141,160,000.That is close to 50% of all the killings in human history and they were committed in the past 100 years by regimes that either actively promoted atheism or strongly discouraged religion.
In November 2005, Rummel revised the alleged democide in Mao's China (19491975) to 73,000,000. When we add the deaths attributed to Communist China with those attributed to the Soviet Union, state atheism killed 135,000,000 which is 25 million more than originally believed.
Even the conservative Black Book of Communism: Crimes, Terror, Repression place the figure close to 100 million deaths. and it has been criticized for under estimating .

Why would you start to use foul language, that normally means an admittance of defeat.
If you want evidence for the existence of YHVH read the Torah. Then study DNA and the foundation of all modern science. When you are done let me know your decision.

Nope, not missing anything. In non-coding sections of the DNA, mutations overwrite mutations. That's what I meant. New information erases whatever was before.

Bill Gates is incorrect. Genes are not like computer codes and much, much more like recipes. Of course he's going to use a programming metaphor, though, that's what he does.

Sure, Dawkins would say that - in context. Read the rest of Dawkins' material and you'll understand my writing better.

Yes, Collins is right. His quote, however, leaves out all the intricacies of the code - which, apparently, you do not want to appreciate.

It's not a neat, problem free code. It doesn't perfectly contain instructions. It's incredibly messy - to a degree that makes us unable to fully comprehend it. It has mutations on top of mutations (meaning that you can literally only date genes and mutations to their half life, and not before - sorry, this is a bit beyond your understanding), tons of insertion events, random, messy code - it evolved by natural processes. There's no design guiding it. If there was, it would be nice and neat.
