Why Atheism Will Replace Religion

There are 14730 comments on the News24 story from Aug 27, 2012, titled Why Atheism Will Replace Religion. In it, News24 reports that:

Please note that for this article "Atheism" also includes agnostics, deists, pagans, wiccans... in other words non-religious.

You will notice this is a statement of fact. And to be fact it is supported by evidence (see references below). Now you can have "faith" that this is not true, but by the very definition of faith, that is just wishful thinking.

What problems could you not apply science to, if you don't mind me asking?
<quoted text>
I don't understand why anyone would try to use science to choose for a person what color they think is prettier, or what dance they find more appealing, or what poetry they find most attractive. These are things that are personal likes and dislikes. I'm not trying to be a smart ass, but do you think that science is supposed to make these ultimate decisions for society?
<quoted text>
People have no reason to use science for things that are personal likes or dislikes. Science can tell you what a specific group of people may like at a given time, but that like would change as the different groups are asked. That's why polls are done.
<quoted text>
I disagree. I think that the basic understanding of the world around us greatly differs between religious minded people and science minded people. That is why there is conflict. Science says, and shows the knowledge it has, and religions show what their book and/or religious leaders say.
<quoted text>
This is your opinion. I choose to not worry about why the earth was created or why we are here. I find it better for me, and I think it would be better if others, would learn to use the knowledge that science gives us to make an awesome place for us to live, and give us the opportunity to explore as far away from our tiny little planet as we can. I don't want to waste my time trying to question why....even if I believed in a god then there would still be no reason for me to question why.
If you do not care what is purpose of our life, why we are created and what shall happen to us when we die... then why should we have any discussion?

None of these questions come under the purview of science and that was what I told you.

If you want to live like an "advanced animal", eat, drink, have sex and die and damn care that you are answerable for what good or bad deeds you did.....then you are one of those "Zealots" I spoke about.

We are wasting our time to have this "purposeless" discussion.

You go your way and I go my way.

You don't respect yourself enough to provide evidence of your made up god.

When you're brave enough to prove your god, your opinions will matter.

Your cult is to cowardly and dishonest for most atheists to follow.

Remember that when you have actual proof / evidence, you will not need to lie to us about god.

We have been quite patient with you.

I never said that I didn't care what my purpose in life is. My purpose in life is to be the best human being that I can be every day until I die. You are correct...none of these questions concern science, they only concern the person that is asking that question. You feel the need for "god" to tell you what your purpose in life is. I have simply chosen for my purpose to be as simple as living my life as well as I can, and treating others the way I would like to, or expect to be treated. I have no desire to live my life as an "advanced animal" any more than you do actually, and I am very self aware of my actions and I have no need to answer to anyone except for the people that I come into contact with, and myself. "god" did not punish me or reward me when I was a child, my parents did. They did their job correctly, and I live my life according to what's "right" and "wrong" for me, and sometimes I even bend my decisions to take action on an activity based on the people that are around me so that other people will still be comfortable. I have no idea what your purpose for this discussion was, but my purpose was to simply have a discussion, and share my opinions. The forum however is about Atheism and how it will replace religion. My opinion on that is "It is my hope that one day religion will become a personal practice, and not something that attempts to take over society."

Oh yeah...my purpose for the previous response was to help you to understand that science is not supposed to make personal choices about things such as favorite color, dance, poetry, or any other likes or dislikes. It is supposed to help us advance in technology so that we can understand how the world works, discover new things and how to use them for enjoyment, or medical use, or travel....science is helpful, and has been helpful in many different ways.

So the wahabi blubber merchant set out to hate israel, but ended up on the same thread as you.

I have clearly stated--many times--that it would be great if the US "renditioned" all of America's thousands of sick atheist pedophiles to Saudi Arabia because the Saudis are a thousand times more efficient and effective than the US in the methods they use to deal with pedophiles, i.e. execution.
Why your little pea brain interprets my clearly stated opinion calling for the death penalty for all pedophiles as being "pro-Islam" or "pro-hetero pedophilia" can only be answered by a shrink or a brain surgeon, bubba.
Bull.

You have NEVER condemned islam for its abuse, rape and murder of little girls.

A crime has to be committed, and it is a crime to mutilate children. it is not a crime to point out the criminal.

Actually none. First of all a crime has to be committed, and mutilating children is a crime, and it is a crime that you are most likely guilty of. If your own hands aren't bloody, then somebody else's are for your benefit.

It is most often we grandmothers who are loudest against the perves of the planet even being allowed to exist, like you for instance. Can you imagine having your entire penis slashed with broken glass, until it no longer is a penis, and then somebody seeing that mangled mess as sexual? Why is it, that mutilated children, are a sexual thing to you.

In Matthew 2:13-14 God sends one of angels to Joseph in a dream and tells him to flee with his family to Egypt.
This is most extraordinary in view of Isaiah 31:1 Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots, because [they are] many; and in horsemen, because they are very strong; but they look not unto the Holy One of Israel, neither seek the LORD!
Here we have a God who has made it very clear that Egypt is no place for Hebrews and they shouldn't go near that country. The main problem seems to be that once there, Hebrews would be chased by hordes of warriors on horses and others driving them into the ground with their chariots.
God then shows an amazing weakness. Apparently he has no jurisdiction in Egypt because the Egyptian people don't believe in him.
This is good news for all of us. All you have to do to escape the horror of the Bible God is not to believe in him.
The Egyptians had not changed their religious views when the fictitious Jesus was said to have been an infant. So God still wouldn't have been able to protect Joseph and his family, yet he tells them that Egypt is their best chance of survival.
This is all very odd, not just because of the warning in Isaiah, but an earlier piece of godly advice:
Genesis 26:2 And the LORD appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of:
Despite the fact that in Hosea 12:9 and the previous chapter, God says he is an Egyptian God, he maintains that Egypt is not the place to be for Hebrews.
Oh, but wait on a moment. What is this?
Genesis 46:3 And he said, I [am] God, the God of thy father: fear not to go down into Egypt; for I will there make of thee a great nation:
Now God is waving the flag for Egypt.
How can anyone believe in such a mixed up God?
For a brief moment, I thought you were a theist until I read your post. Thanks for the post. I love the way you show the contradictions in their "holy book"

You're doing the dance again.
You just can't state it clearly, can you?

It's simple, simply copy paste the following: "All sexual relations of people older than 18 with people younger than 16 are wrong."

All you have to do is copy and paste it.

You won't though, because either you condone that behaviour, or you like being called a pedophile for some reason.

Ans.
I think I have covered most of points you have raised in the reply to ISY.
Some "Great and True Scientist" said "Little knowledge of Science makes a man Atheist, but deep and sincere knowledge of science makes him believer in Creator".
And another Great Scientist said "Science without religion is blind and religion without science is lame".
We need both of them for a balanced view.
From your posts and your boasts, it is clear that you have "little knowledge of science" and almost "zero knowledge of religion"!!
What a pitiable condition to spend your lives!!
Hmmmmm. Must have been "Great and True" Creationist Scientists, which, sorry to say, are not Scientists at all.

I don't recall 'boasting' about anything. Perhaps you don't know, but 'blue collar'(as in my moniker) places me firmly in with the great unwashed, the general masses, the Proletariat, the worker bees, the lowest of the low. There's people on here that would rather poke their own eyes out with a sharpened stick than call themselves 'blue collar'. For that matter,'philosopher' is more of an admission than a boast. You best go look in the mirror if you wanna see a boaster.

Very few people raised in America, or Western Civilization for that matter, obtain the intensity of religious indoctrination you Muslims get. Catholics might be close ... some of them, my wife for instance ... are pretty far gone. I definitely wouldn't be bragging about how 'balanced' your science vrs religious training is, if I were you. I had the bible exposed to me, like some kind of mind rapist, every Sunday for my first 10 or 15 years. My momma made me attend, my dad never went or spoke of religion.

I just want to know the true nature of the Universe. I want to understand reality. I may be stepping outside my bounds with such lofty goals, but I believe that in my 60 years of existence I've learned enough science to make this an achievable quest. I'm as interested in Archeology as Zoology and (boasting again) may know more 'general science' than some specialists! I think we are, in this day and age and within our privileged place in history, standing on the threshold of developing a complete understanding. I think religion wants to keep that door closed. That makes us enemies. Sorry.

I was wondering where all the 'shilling for shekels' crapola was coming from. You got some serious issues, bubba. Nobody has to get paid to knock Muslims. Y'all do that quite well all by yourselves!
