Why Atheism Will Replace Religion

Aug 27, 2012 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: News24

Please note that for this article "Atheism" also includes agnostics, deists, pagans, wiccans... in other words non-religious.

You will notice this is a statement of fact. And to be fact it is supported by evidence (see references below). Now you can have "faith" that this is not true, but by the very definition of faith, that is just wishful thinking.

What amazes me the most is how Colin remembers to breath in and breath out from moment to moment.

You mean, Vishnu could be real?

What if you're wrong and it's really Allah, then you're going straight to hell.

Now where on earth did that comment come from.
But by the way the Golem would fit more with evolution. You know life created form nonliving matter. Like life from rocks.
If you think the Theory of Evolution is about creating life from rocks, you are in more trouble than I thought. The 'Bear Jew' you are not.

Well, you don't seem to be able to grasp the difference between the theory of evolution, which is about biology, and the Big Bang theory, which is about cosmology.

No explosion; 13.7 billion; you also forgot about the expansion ever since. You also forgot about how the rate of expansion is related to the matter and energy density. You also forgot about how the temperature rises with increasing density. You also forgot about nucleosynthesis early on. You also forgot about the evidence from element abundances and the background radiation. And the 'very small' is technically wrong, since the correct statement is that it was 'high density'.

Wrong on all accounts. Tell me why are there fossils of sea shells near the summit of some of the worlds highest mountains
Because the mountains were raised my tectonic forces (compression when continents collide). The shells, by the way are *in* the mountains, not just on top. The land in the mountains was once at the bottom of an ocean and was raised up by the collisions.

Perhaps you should learn some basic geology?

Are you trying to say that the created laws of through physical universe rely on the observation of man, on the universe, to exits. That is utterly rediculous.
Our understanding relies on our observations.
There is one extreme problem in out post: how did you determined the age of any species to billions of years or even millions of years.
There are several different dating methods. Most (but not all) depend on some sort of radioactive dating.
There is nothing that cannot be fully and completely accurately explained by intelligent design
Which is exactly why it is not scientific: it cannot make any definite predictions concerning new observations. it would be consistent with *anything*. That means it has zero explanatory power.

As with any scientific theory, if I am wrong, I will modify my hypotheses based on the new evidence.

Oh, sorry, were you doing some sort of Pascal's Wager? You probably see that argument as persuasive, don't you?

yes. For example, there used to be an ocean between India and the rest of Asia. As the two pieces of land collided, the Himalayas were uplifted and the sea floor became the mountains (simplified version--it was much more complex than simple the sea floor rising up).

Once again, learn some basic geology.

Geology shows that fossils are of different ages. Paleontology shows a fossil sequence, the list of species represented changes through time. Taxonomy and DNA shows biological relationships among species. Evolution is the explanation that threads it all together.

Creationism is the practice of squeezing one's eyes shut and wailing "Does not!"

Evolutionary theory says nothing about where living organisms came from. it deals with how living species change over time.

I prefer the modified Pascal's wager where, against all the odds, there is some deity which rewards all the non-believers for not misrepresenting it and being self reliant.
