Richard Dawkins tweets on abortion: ‘any fetus is less human than an adult pig’

It would seem the pro-life movement has acquired an unlikely supporter. On Wednesday, Richard Dawkins, a vocal proponent of atheism and the author of The God Delusion, posted a provocative tweet about abortion: With respect to those meanings of "human" that are relevant to the morality of abortion, any fetus is less human than an adult pig.

Get help.
Obviously YOU fantasize that all women WANT to be mothers. Too bad for you that this isn't the case.

Pregnancy and children are NOT desired by all women, and each woman can cheerfully reject motherhood if she doesn't want the hardships and responsibilities it involves. A number of women (and men too, of course) have decided not to have children at all, which is their right. Some of us, myself included, have just ONE child by choice, and have NO desire or intention to have more kids.

Again, motherhood is OPTIONAL, not required, even if a pregnancy happens. Basically that means a woman can decide NOT to continue a pregnancy simply because she DOESN'T want to be a mother. Get over it.

So what. Whether the mahogany tree is a parasite or not doesn't interest me.
The fact remains that pregnancy and children are NOT desired by all women. Motherhood is OPTIONAL, not required. That means each woman has a right NOT to have children as well a right to become a mother. It's HER choice, not yours, and whether you like that fact or not is irrelevant.
Bottom line; if it isn't YOUR pregnancy, it isn't your decision. Deal with it.
I'm sure if your mom could have known what you were going to turn out like she would have made a point of having your pre-born life cut short too.

It's not too bad for me, it's too bad for the babies they kill to satisfy their own lazy, selfishness. Using abortion as birth control is reprehensible.

It is only the selfish people who don't want children.

I've came across Ocean56 several times, she is just a nutter who repeats herself.

She's just another death cultist. She's one of the worst hypocrites there is on Topix, pro-abortion, pro-suicide but against the death penalty for convicted murderers. But then, she would, of necessity, have to be against executions of predators since she falls in the same category as a person who lusts for the blood of the innocent enwombed, the mute pre-born humans. What a coward.

What part of WANTED PREGNANCY is too confusing for you? By the way, not all parents are afraid of having children who grow up to think for THEMSELVES and choose a different path. Mine certainly weren't.

Sure it's too bad for you, since you don't get to make sexual and reproductive decisions for anyone but yourself. The ONLY person who decides whether to continue a pregnancy or not is the WOMAN who is pregnant. So, if it isn't YOUR pregnancy, it isn't your decision. Simple as that.

The only coward here is the one who uses her made up god to justify her ignorant opinions about abortion.

Not quite, perhaps.

I think the disagreement is usually over when a pregnancy becomes society's business. In the UK,(for instance) the fetus gains some rights at 24 weeks which seems a reasonably fair compromise. A woman has wide powers over when or whether to terminate a pregnancy up to that point.

At some point, the child will be seen to have rights independent of the mother and that point is likely to be some time before birth - at least that seems to be the view of most people in many societies.

(Maybe this isn't really the right thread to discuss in more detail?)

You are unsuccessful, ask your parents what they think of you, now that you are all grown up.
