Atheists Banned from Serving in Arkansas

Aug 12, 2012 | Posted by: NightSerf | Full story: arkansasmatters.com

According to an Arkansas state law that dates back to 1874, no Atheists can hold an office or testify in court.

The law states that "no person who denies the being of a God shall hold any office in the civil departments of the state nor be competent to stand trial."

"I don't think that we should have Atheists, because I believe we need some kind of religion to guide people to make the right decisions," says one Arkansan.

"It seems to be almost unconstitutional, you know so, uh it seems it needs to be amended," says another.

No country is perfect, but the problem with the US is that most of us actually still believe we are perfect in spite of knowing otherwise. So it's perfectly reasonable for people in other countries to mock the US, I mock the US and I live here.

We don't find them. We make them - by the millions, in factories called churches.

Not quite. But I used to dance with a team of Borders-style Morris dancers, and with the face paint and rag coat, we were probably just as scary, especially given the nature of the battle-dances that we did.

I miss Morris dancing. Best drinking companions I ever had.

Well, Canadian banks *are* buying up US banks in large numbers. The large number of TD (Toronto Dominion) banks on the east coast is evidence of that. And from what I hear, the Canadian government requires them to play by Canadian rules since they're still Canadian-based.
