Why would the Christian god exist but not, say, the Norse gods?
Because to religious cult members - there is only one god - the one that they invented themselves!!!

Everyone else is WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG.

Even scientific facts are deemed 'wrong' when talking to a cult member. This is how these cheats get ahead in life.

Just poems.
I think we should switch from coffee to tea in honor of our British posters.

TEA TIME!

"If I were to suggest that between the Earth and Mars there is a china teapot revolving about the sun in an elliptical orbit, nobody would be able to disprove my assertion provided I were careful to add that the teapot is too small to be revealed even by our most powerful telescopes.

But if I were to go on to say that, since my assertion cannot be disproved, it is an intolerable presumption on the part of human reason to doubt it, I should rightly be thought to be talking nonsense.

If, however, the existence of such a teapot were affirmed in ancient books, taught as the sacred truth every Sunday, and instilled into the minds of children at school, hesitation to believe in its existence would become a mark of eccentricity and entitle the doubter to the attentions of the psychiatrist in an enlightened age or of the Inquisitor in an earlier time."

I see you are practiced in the art of deflection, aren't you!
Reality check - your cult has no evidence of god. Why are you even talking? Either prove your god or f*ck off, its been that simple since the dawn of time itself.

Atheism is simply a disbelief in religious liars - its not a clan or a group.

When you can prove your god, then you get to speak, until then you're to be regarded as mentally ill, going on about your self-important hallucinations.

No such thing as heaven or hell - its a myth created by growing up in the west around the cult of christianity.
If you grew up elsewhere it would be a different cult's myth you would dream of because you'd have all those memories instead.
The human mind is a tricky thing - the mental illness of faith is rooted in self-importance and ego.
Probably something to do with a depressive illness in the past that triggers extreme ego + faith in vulnerable individuals.
Faith celebrates the people that are the most extreme in their mental illness and belief in god, so the cult is self selecting for crazy people.
Which is why we have so many crazies in religion.
With me, everything happened at the same time. I reached a cathartic point in therapy, God called me, I received the holy Spirit, and went nuts. I was also born and raised a Christian but I converted out.

At least you admit your faith is a mental illness, that is one step forward.

You're hallucinating again. Just because you're an idiot who can't accept Atheists, does not mean you get to redefine what it means.

There is no cult of 'no-belief', its just called 'being scientific', or Atheist.

Must be the coffee brew today, Say how much of your life do you spend on this crusade?

A coffee bar with orange paint --
Brown tables on a tiled, grey floor --
Soft light within blown glass above --
A neon sign hangs by the door.

I come here sometimes just to write.
A coffee bar with orange paint
To some would be apalling; but
I do not see it as a taint.

Tonight an artist's work is hung
Upon those walls in bold display;
A coffee bar with orange paint
Allows her dreams to have their say.

I like the color in these walls --
A brazen hue, not pale or quaint;
And in this place I weave my words --
A coffee bar with orange paint.

The type of god(s) that are left when you discount the following:

1. Not an all powerful compassionate god because we have evidence of avoidable suffering
2. Not a god that leaves evidence
3. A god that can fit in the shrinking gaps left to it by increased knowledge

Any god that is faking evidence in 2 or 3 may be all powerful but clearly fails the compassionate god criterion because, as I said in 1, we have evidence of avoidable suffering.

Some people are believers based on faith others are not.
The discussion leads often nowhere?
Friends of all beliefs sit down for breakfast with a great cup of coffee and enjoy each others company regardless of belief.

Coffee mellow out the discussion?
Back in the Coffee House

As I sit here, sipping my over-priced latte', I wonder
I wonder about next year
about next month
about tomorrow,
and I realize:
I realize soon
it will be next year
and even sooner, next month
let alone tomorrow,
So why is it I'm so infatuated with such a sudden future?
Maybe it's because
Tomorrow has the ability to make dreams come true
It bares a place to reside in,
when there is no longer enough time in today,
It has a way of making promises
that you don't even care whether or not they come true,
as long as they feel good to hold, for tonight:
Tomorrow can also pass you by,
but it seems never to fail
to come right back, for today.
I guess the only reason
I spend so much energy imagining
the possibilities that tomorrow holds
Is because, I can't help but wonder
what if maybe they'll be a day,
A today, tomorrow, just once, forgets to come.
