Bob, yes, I believe there is no god. That is because there is no evidence for a god and there is quite a bit of evidence against various beliefs.
Most theists ignore the evidence out there. They believe there nonsense regardless of evidence. I am not slamming your own personal beliefs here. I am unaware of them. The ones I am slamming are the various fundamental sects.
I got off point. If actual evidence arose that there is a god I and most other atheists would change our mind. Regardless of the god there was evidence for most theist would ignore it and keep following their own personal god.
Yes, I would change my position that this hypothetical-but-proved-real god was real.

But the majority of deities I've seen described? I would not worship any-- none are worthy of basic >>respect<< let alone worship.

Besides-- worship is what broken-minded slaves do, towards their slave-master.

It is unbecoming to worship anything. So I wouldn't stoop to that, even if a god was proven to exist.

Besides-- I doubt a >>real<< deity would notice humans, let alone be the least interested in our bowing and scraping...

... about the same as if bacteria suddenly started praising the wonders of the doctor looking at it, under a microscope...

I agree, and you will see that there is nothing in my post that indicates I would worship said god.

I of course do like my variation of Pascal's Wager. Since there are thousands of possible deities your odds of picking the right one is extremely small. One deity is as likely as another. So if you are going to believe or worship a deity it should be one that merits worship and second it should have the best possible heaven. Now I do have a personal dislike of loud noises so becoming a suicide bomber and trying to get my 40 some virgins that way is not going to happen. Second who wants virgins? Can you imagine getting stuck with 40 or however many totally inept lovers? No, the correct god to believe in is the Flying Spaghetti Monster. With heaven containing a beer volcano and a stripper factory a good time is guaranteed for all.

I have yet to see one of our theists bring up a good reason not to believe and possibly worship the FSM. Heck, all it takes is a nice dinner of Spaghetti and Meatballs on a Friday night.

RAMEN!

I do agree-- since it's all mythology anyway? And there is no logical reason to buy one god-myth over another?

I think you have nailed it: go with the heaven of a god who is actually worthy of respect-- that would be Flying Spaghetti Monster for certain.

Go Beer Volcano!

I especially like FSM's version of hell-- people in FSM hell, have to do the dishes after dinner-- but not forever, only until their mis-deeds are made up for.

And since we all have made mistakes? It's likely that doing the dishes will be in rotation amongst us all, for a long time.

And that's as it should be-- what's heaven, without a little reminder than things could be worse? And doing the dishes, not a horrible task, is a nice reminder of that.

All in all, Flying Speghetti Monster's heaven is one worthy of seeking.

But I have it on pretty good authority* that FSM does not require worship, apart from an occasional pasta repast.

:D

__________

* by "authority" I mean that I just made it up, right this moment. Perfect, isn't it?

They didn't know plants need light, and that it's the sun that is keeping the earth from being close to 0 Kelivn even during the night.
We all know religion's right, you're just too afraid to admit it.

You do buy the bullsh7t... you buy it so much, that your eyes are brown from over-exposure to bullshyt....
No, it's a book on how to buy a bull, the Bible is a book on how to know the truth.

Don't forget the stripper factory. I will take a stripper over a virgin any Friday night! And since they are factory made there is no sin in using them as less than human beings.

I know no such thing!

You are just LYING once again.

All I ask? Is for a little PROOF.

Is that too much to ask of a god?

Obviously...!

Yes, yes-- your BuyBull (bible) is a book on how to damage your brain without actual brain surgery.

You are an excellent example of this technique.

I'm so sorry for your loss (of brainpower).

But truth?

You appear to be completely unfamiliar with the meaning of that word...

... the way you use it? You seem to think that "truth" is synonymous with "fairy-tale" ....

Pitiful.

Exactly!

The Flying Speghetti Monster is a god who is actually WORTHY of respect.

In contrast to all the others....

... well.... except for Thor.

I mean... hammer? Lightning-bolts? Whether you like Thor or no? You so gotta respect the hammer and lightning...!

Go Thor!

As the poster says to Christians:

Your god was nailed to a cross. Thor carries a hammer. Think about it.

{Original post Apr 24}I heard many atheists say, the Bible is a fairy tale, it's a 2000year old fairy designed by some man who wanted to free his imagination, and write stories.
But is the Bible really a fairy tale. A fairy tale is a book written for small children, so why is it banned in 53countries of the world. Who bans a fairy tale story.
It is not a fairy tale in the sense of stories about fairies to amuse children. It is however filled with ficticious and highly fanciful stories. So would meet this definition of a fairy tale.

Consider the facts.

No God created the world 6000 years ago.

There was no global flood drowning the planet.

No Israelites lived in Egypt, there was no Exodus, and no conquest of Canaan.

The NT stories contradict each other and are highly fanciful and imaginary.

These are the facts from science, archaeology and Bible scholarship.

I just passed by a missionary who said that we all had to repent. Repent for what? Bieng born? Inheriting a sin for an action we did not commit. Okay, I am somewhat lazy. I guess that is a sin. But why should I repent to a God who wants to kill people for working on the Sabbath.

Past that, it is pure myth.

Indeed.
It's also hard to be nice to someone who is constantly talking down to you--
-- have you noticed that? Godbots >>always<< speak from a self-superior position-- they pretend they are "magically special", and that we are ... not.
I really detest that attitude the most, I think.
One reason why I slam them so very hard, I suppose.
Agreed. They are rude, uppity and impertinent. First they tell me that he loves me. Then they tell me that God hates me and will send me to hell
1-because I inherited original sin
2-because I am a fag.
To give an example of Christian rudeness. Two Lesbians came on the train I was taking last week. They sat down together and were talking and giggling. It was clear that they were a couple. Some Godbot knowing their orientation, had the temerity to start preaching shyt and handing them a pamphlet. The Lesbian rightfully threw the garbage out and cursed out the Godbot.

Agree with the first bit. There is no evidence that the old testament existed before 500 BCE, which kinda blows the Christian claims out of the water.
