Stephen Hawking Is Wrong, God Created the Universe

Stephen Hawking is a brilliant scientist. He has battled a crippling disease since he was 20, made a name for himself on a global scale through his scientific prowess, and been an inspiration to many. But in his latest book, The Grand Design, he is just plain wrong. Michael Holden wrote an article he titled:“‘God Did Not Create the Universe,’ Says Hawking,” in which he stated that Hawking’s new book, co-authored with Leonard Mlodinow, proposes the idea that the laws which hold the Universe together do not need an intelligent Designer.
In fact, Holden quoted Hawking as saying:“Because there is a law such as gravity, the universe can and will create itself from nothing. Spontaneous creation is the reason there is something rather than nothing, why the universe exists, why we exist”(as quoted in Holden, 2010, emp. added). While the book is not yet on the shelves, there are already glaring flaws with Hawking’s reasoning.
First, Hawking cannot explain why the law of gravity exists in the first place. He says “because there is a law of gravity,” but he can give no reason why such a law is present, and is constant. Without an adequate explanation for the origin of laws, such as gravity, any explanation of the origin of a Universe dependent on those laws is incomplete. Furthermore, regardless of what theoretical, mathematical calculations Hawking has concocted, the simple fact of the matter is, if there ever was a time when nothing existed, there would be nothing now. The mere fact that Hawking suggests that anything can “spontaneously create itself out of nothing,” is, with all due respect, ridiculously absurd and completely unscientific! It is impossible to get something from nothing—any way you slice it. Using Hawking’s way of thinking, we could suggest that this article you are reading “spontaneously created itself out of nothing.” Yet such a conclusion defies all known scientific laws.
In Acts 26:24, the Roman governor Festus said to the apostle Paul:“You are beside yourself! Much learning is driving you mad!” While that accusation did not accurately apply to Paul, it does, unfortunately, apply to Hawking’s concept of “spontaneous creation out of nothing.” The Psalmist wrote:“The fool has said in his heart,‘There is no God.’” Sadly, Hawking’s brilliant mind has been turned to false, unscientific foolishness. Would to God that Hawking and all his fellow scientists would turn to the God of the Bible who speaks “the words of truth and reason”(Acts 26:25).

Why do you spam this forum with Creationist propoganda? Are you concerned that we as atheists have simply not read enough Creationist propoganda already out there in the real world in our f*cking faces and letter boxes day and night and in street corners and hotels and schools and f*cking hostpitals and prisons too?

Do you really think there is a shortage of this "information" in the world?

For f*cks sake.

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't see copy/pasting as an adequate substitute for writing coherent posts that express original thinking. I almost always skip over posts that were obviously not written by the the person presenting them. I do respect people who write challenging posts and support them with references or brief quotes from credible sources, but this latest batch of copy/paste makes me wonder whether Heath can think for himself at all.

I agree when someone wastes bandwidth on walls and walls of text that they merely copied from a website it make them look foolish and annoying. Better to state your opinion, copy a brief sum up from the page and then a direct link to it.

I have a feeling they do this in an effort to attempt to force others to read it when in actuality it just gets scroll wheeled by.

Another failed tactic is overuse of capitalisation. If I see SHOUTING I'm already off to the next post.

It's actually a combination of classic fallacies. Presenting so many of these at a time is an attempt at proof by verbosity, a classic informal fallacy. The idea is that if one bombards an opponent with a greater mass of argument than can possibly be addresses realistically, one wins by default. It's a cheat, but not one so obvious that one gets called on it as often as one should. There are also elements of argument from repetition, cherry-picking, and appeal to authority. Often, people who post series of excerpts have not even read them all the way through, much less read the larger works of which they are a part, so they don't even understand the contest of their own posts.

Early in my Topix experience, I used to track down most sources to gain that context, and as a result, I often read the first sentence, know the passage, where its from, and what the true context is, but at this point, I've already rebutted most of these so many times that I can no longer be bothered. I just shake my head, sigh, and move on to the next post, and I know that I'm not alone in this. Let the idiotic pigeon chess players thing they've won. It no longer matters to me.

Ah yes the old throw in so many propositions at once the person would need a dozen posts to cover them. Which would be meaningless because the Christhole wouldn't spend one second reading any of the facts that disproves them.

They must not because you will see the same true believer ask the same question again and again dozens of times even after it has been factually explained to them repeatedly. Or it could be thy lack the resources to comprehend.

Newsflash: I do not believe in your Jewsus.

But, imagine that-- I am as happy as anyone-- I couldn't be more happy, come to think of it.

In fact? Since I dumped the toxic religion of your faith? I am far more happy than I ever was, back when I was still a True Believer™.

So that pretty much wipes the floor with your ludicrous claim.

That is the mystifying thing about religious fanatics they cannot see reason or truth.

At this point in my life I had been a religious person for over 43 years that is close to three quarters of my life wasted in a delusional belief of a supreme being.

The last 12 years after seeing the light and the truth about religion and god/gods I have been happier and a better person. It was like a light turned on after reading the bible for the umpteenth time, I noticed and could see all the lies, myths, and fabulous tails of frolicking frivolous foolishness of the goat headers mentality.

Hey listen here! The old testiement speak about me clearly as day and the new testiement too. This is all a proofe you need for me as a miracle workman. This is list a miracles I have did recently as a proof to you: I healed a dead dog to life. Now it is pregnant with small dogs. I healed blind mens. I turned tap water into white and red wines. I flew from country to country with my power rather than airplane. I walked on a water. I helded my breathe in a water for 6 hour. I comanded rain at will to sip for hungry crops. I cured aging at my will. I pull a new car out of the thin air. I predicted the future and 9/11 attacks. I predicted tsunami attack in 2004. I will now predict that the world is a ending on 25 December 2027. I even curied hiv and cancer and sinus. I don't need a sleep. I can freeze objects with myself at work. I appeared on the moon and sun at will. I have seen Satan in my face. Athiesm is his devil religions. All athiests is going to hell at end times. As a miracle workmen I know this already. This is a deep proofe of me as Jesus. Be safed or risk a trip to the hell. Shalom
