K. I would like that...
Most of us have studied various religions, and deeply researched at least one or two. Several of us, have trained for the ministry or priesthood, I among others have been ordained, and what we mostly have in common, is a insatiable appetite for knowledge(yes, yes, yes we know it is forbidden), and it is the acquisition of that knowledge, where we have found that the holy tomes contradict themselves, out right lie, and generally pose impossibilities, which are claimed to be truth.

Yet any one of these incredulous myths can be out done by some other holy tome's incredulous myth claims about some other god. These myth-gods have histories and timelines, which prove the claims false, but why would the believer know what is not in their book, when they barely know what is in it?

For myself and others here, it is the bibles contents that we give credit to, for spurring us to a conclusion of disbelief.

Sorry, I just stumbled on to it, and thought it was funny... it's just kids making the best of things, in the worst of times. lol...

Do you like 'Thunder and Lightening?' Don't worry, it's not a trick question about God. We never get rain here, and right now we have a complete storm... I absolutely love it!

Agreed, nature can be beautiful and inspiring. But is also harsh, pitiless and indifferent. Something difficult for our theist friends to their heads around. The universe is as you would expect as if there is no super being operating that is intimately concerned with our affairs.

I hope it is rising.
Its about time after 2 millenia of this rubbish.
Perhaps now we can get down to the serious business of actually advancing mankind instead of holding him back.

The long term future of mankind depends on us getting off this planet.
I vote to leave the religious here though.
Put away childish things.
You start with Santa as a child which is just the practice lie for God when you're an adult.
But a true adult will think for themselves, hopefully.

Do we get to have an inguisition too?

Beauty is where you choose to find it-- there is nothing magical about lightning, but it can be quite beautiful.

That is, until it strikes a crowded building, and kills several people-- then? Not so much beautiful as it is frightening.

Ben Franklin invented a Lightning Rod, which allowed mere people to >>control<< the lightning, redirecting it harmlessly into the ground.

When Franklin first demonstrated the idea? Genuine Christians™ were horrified! How DARE Mr Franklin take away god's right to MURDER people on a whim!

Later, after all buildings but >>churches<< were protected? And after several churches burned to the ground from lightning strikes? The anti-lightning Genuine Christians™ were shouted down-- or else they slunk off with their collective tails between their cowardly legs.

This has how it's been down through history.

Times have never been better, historically speaking.

Human life is more than 2 times longer than it was a scant score of years ago.

Two times as long (on average).

Two times longer to love your loved-ones. Two times longer to enjoy the beauty/fright of a magnificent lightning storm.

Two times longer to travel the world--to see people radically different from you.

Two times longer to enjoy family, freedom of speech, life.

Worst of times?

Maybe if you are one of the unfortunate who is killed because of religion's ugliness-- and >>all<< religion is ugly underneath the pretty words. Without exception.

And if you are not killed outright? It could well be the worst of times for you, too--if you are either a woman in a Religious culture, or a non-straight in a Christian one.

If that's the case? Then yeah, it is pretty bad-- but that is not anything new-- it's been pretty bad for those since ugly religion was invented by... >>men<<.

You thought that was an insult? Well, okay then, I guess it can be if that's what you really want it to be. Of course the fact that you didn't understand the answer I gave is truly the insult to you.

Religion is divisve and restricts us as a species, simple as that. Check out a book that's causing a bit of a buzz in the Uk called 2082 the chronicles of hope. On the website the 1st chapter for the 1st book is on there for free, there's a speech in there by an atheist politician that's genius!

‘2082: The Chronicles of Hope’ is one of a series of political fiction books based in the late 21st century, featuring an alternative politician in Frank Noon.

He provides a political alternative in that he’s a visionary, honest, open and trustworthy politician, one who is stoically atheist, and wants to push this as a way to mould and shape society.

Whilst some say he’s a philosophical genius, some say he’s a fanciful dreamer who deliberately courts controversy with his anti-establishment views about the failings of modern society.

Seemingly nearing the end of his life in politics, he reluctantly fronts an experimental inter-galactic government project aimed at making life on an overpopulated Earth more sustainable.

As he battles to gain control of a relative asylum, consisting of a cross section of the populous as much at odds with themselves as the situation, he unwittingly embarks on a life-changing journey of self-discovery and gets the chance to stamp his authority on the British political system.

Why it's not what? Beautiful? Lightning is incredibly beautiful. Thunder? While I love the sound, I have yet to see it. Have you ever seen ball lightening, or the light show that comes with a hurricane?

Sooner or later, I will end up being hit by lightning, a rain storm has always been an invitation for me, to step out and into the maelstrom.

If the Word of God is not the real deal why has there been such a ruckus over it for so long? Why have people sought to disprove it so fervently & why do so many believe it?

Because it is forced down the throats of generation after generation with the threat of hellfire if they do not accept it.

Anything else I can help you with?

Wasn't forced down my throat. As a matter of fact, I truly wish I had gotten into a relationship with Jesus years ago.
I fought it...believed in God but didn't know Him. It's pretty awesome to be able to rely on the Creator, in my opinion.

You were indoctrinated as a child. You were told about the great invisible sky wizard who you need to believe in and telepathically communicate with or suffer an eternity of hell.

This tactic is fading though as we see churches closing at an all time high rate.

:)

Your god is a delusion nothing more. Had you been born in India you would be worshipping shiva.
