Sparked by a Richard Dawkins tweet , in which he drew a parallel between Islamists and Nazis, Nathan Lean recently suggested on Salon.com that the most famous representatives of the new atheism "flirt with" Islamophobia [echoing Chris Stedman's prescient warning to fellow atheists on RD this past August]. As the article explains, Dawkins, Hitchens ... (more)

Excellent questions for the godbots...

... notice how they cannot clarify these claims with ...

.... FACTS?

But that's the godbot way:

Like the person above with the Self Righteousness remark. Plus they cannot get it through their heads that I do not deny a god. How can I deny a god, if I do not believe in god?

They make claims and never back the claim up.

Exactly!

I do not deny any gods, either--

--- if they could manage to **present** a god?

I just **might** deny he/she/it is worthy of the title.

But I'd have to see...

... and **first**, I'd have to meet this ... "god"

Another view celebrating freedom of thought.
There often are two sides to issues.
Interesting to see who wants to shut off debate thought.

The North American and European chattering classes may swoon over the late Christopher Hitchens and pretend to have read Richard Dawkins, but nobody is going to die, or live in the real sense, for secular humanism and atheistic materialism. The dynamic, the driving force of, in particular, younger people is religion.

Shocked, incredulous, even angry at what I just said? Fine, be happy in your denial. But if you think, for example, that people are fighting in Egypt, Syria and Iraq for relativism or liberalism, you have no understanding of the greater world.

In Brazil this week, millions are swarming around Pope Francis for World Youth Day, not because they embrace either the free market or state socialism and not because they are liberal or conservative. No, itís because they acknowledge him as the direct successor to St. Peter, given the keys of the kingdom by Jesus Christ, the son of God, while the messiah was here on Earth among us.

You might reject this ó and thank goodness you have that right in the west ó but youíre naive if you assume that because you donít go to church anymore because youíd rather watch Big Brother than listen to Big God, it means you represent the majority.

Islamophobia leads to war in the Near East?

Syria agreed to let the United Nations inspect the site of a suspected chemical weapons attack from Monday but a U.S. official said any such offer would be "too late to be credible" and there was little doubt the government was to blame.

Foreign powers have been searching for a response since many hundreds of people were killed by poisonous gas on Wednesday in the suburbs of Damascus in what appears to have been the world's worst chemical weapons attack in 25 years.

The United Nations said Damascus had agreed to a ceasefire while a U.N. team of experts are at the site for inspections which will begin on Monday. Syria confirmed it had agreed to allow the inspections.

But there were increasing signs that the United States and its allies were considering taking action, a year after President Barack Obama said the use of chemical weapons was a "red line" that would prompt serious consequences.

funny that the person given the keys to the kingdom of jesus would commit so much murder and torture in the name of this mythical god like they have over the centuries, isn't it?

you'd think a real god would be able to choose bettter people to hand off the keys to, or at least be able to direct them better. well the buck always stops at the top, right? so it must be that god/jesus/ spirit arte just major fuck-ups or major pricks... reading the bible, i'd go with the latter if i were stupid enough to not notice the bible proves these man-made gods to be false....
