Sparked by a Richard Dawkins tweet , in which he drew a parallel between Islamists and Nazis, Nathan Lean recently suggested on Salon.com that the most famous representatives of the new atheism "flirt with" Islamophobia [echoing Chris Stedman's prescient warning to fellow atheists on RD this past August]. As the article explains, Dawkins, Hitchens ... (more)

what magic is this you speak of?

I am quite fond of CBC radio myself. music is far superior to what i can hear on any commercial radio in the US....when they actually slip music in between the puerile natter...

Radio 4 is the best English language spoken radio station. It shares some content with the World Service. There are no ads.

If you like science chat, you have cult programmes like this:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00snr0w

Excellent topical comedy like this:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006r9yq

Deep discussions of historical topics here:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b006qykl

Serious news where top politicians will get strips torn off of them. A life saver for someone like me that is very happy the new Prince is healthy, but that's as far as my interest will go for the next twenty years or so.

If you want to hear good diction, I don't think it has any equal. My French wife taught herself "accentless" English using Radio 4 before she left France.

There are even programmes you can listen to from the 1940s, with more content archived every day.

I shoe horned a 240GB drive into an old iPod because of the amount of downloadable BBC content out there. I then catch up with it on my long road trips across places like the US and Canada.

Not really bob- I'm just doing what you do repeating myself over and over, but...just to get caught up, I tried it all in one post. You couldn't rattle anything more cognizant than a baby. I don't want you throwing your shoulder out patting yourself on the back.

You still cannot explain why your god cannot manage a little forgiveness....

... unless he has a tribute-killing, first.

Why IS that?

I'm still waiting for you to prove your insistence that God demands murder before He can forgive. You've yet to prove anythig you say...but then again, why should you prove yourself a liar?
