Atheist Islamophobia... Again

Apr 9, 2013 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: Religion Dispatched

Sparked by a Richard Dawkins tweet , in which he drew a parallel between Islamists and Nazis, Nathan Lean recently suggested on Salon.com that the most famous representatives of the new atheism "flirt with" Islamophobia [echoing Chris Stedman's prescient warning to fellow atheists on RD this past August]. As the article explains, Dawkins, Hitchens ... (more)

You are correct but they are not as numerous, rabid in their beliefs or wide spread as the cult of islam.

hmmm. Just pointing out facts is adamant and vigorous? really?
perhaps you are projecting this image you stated onto me as you have such a closed mind on this issue.
how is your "and yet He is." comment any less adamant or full of vigor?
you seem unable to look at this issue objectively. why is that?
I was refering to your subtle insults and the not-so subtle ones, sport. I'm as objective as I feel the need to be- nice try. you "logical" ones are hilarious- glad I found this thread.

Actually, you're one of the normal people on here. You are more "agree to disagree" type than I don't like you there for you are a liar. Usually we tell the Christians this, "I find the idea of God being a human harder to accept than him having a son. I would never worship a human. How can a God sleep? Die? And when he dies who runs the world? I respect Christianity because it is a Abrahamic religion but your idea of God is so messed up, that it is hard to believe that you are even an Abrahamic religion sometimes." And they leave us alone but you guys love to troll on our forum. That's fine, just don't be mad when we do it on yours.
I have to say you give me more credit then I deserve, I have been just as loud as my atheist comrades and have used fowl language to make my points, if you got to know me better you would have a different opinion on my normality, unlike you I respect someoneís religion like I respect homeopathy, for example my response to what you tell Christians.
You and the Christians have one thing in common, both of you think that your religion builds on the Jewish foundation as willed by God. So one would expect the both Christianity and Islam to have nothing contradicting Judaism, but yet the good and omnipotent lord cannot do this simple task.
Christ despite saying he didnít come to overrule the old laws of Judaism did so away many times, like stopping the stoning of an adulterer http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/... now the old laws say she should have been stoned! And that this law was given by God, but yet Christ the son of God stopped it anyway. Did he disobey God? No Christ is good and disobeying is bad. Did the law change? No Godís word is unchanging.
Now on to the Islam, because you referred to you creation I must ask ďwhy is your creation story different to the Jews?Ē Did God forget how it created the cosmos!? Did the Jews mishear and God didnít correct them!? Godís word is suppose to be unchanging but yet God seems to have failed this (I cannot stress enough) simple task! One can only conclude that at least someone is guilty of stupidity in the highest degree and thus, both Islam and Christianity are as guilty as the founders of these religions.

You should feel guilty. Jesus would be ashamed of you and turn his back, for the things you've said, unless your god is a different god. Christian means christlike, that you are not my friend.

Ah, insulting peoples' beliefs isn't insulting, but calling them 'sport" is- Mr Spock would likely disagree with you. how DO you live with the illogic of that thinking?

Not trying to be your friend, sport. I do appreciate your trying to tell me what Jesus would think, however. I believe I'll wait and hear it from Him personally.

funny how the jesus myth is a total re-hash of previous religious cult myths. from the day of his 'virgin birth' to his death and mythical resurection. all stolen from previous cults.

sad that people would believe known stolen myths, but hey, that is the nature of cults...

You'll never see him to find out, the way your going. Standing in a church doesn't make you a christian anymore than standing in a garage makes you a car. Because you say it, doesn't make it so. Your words clearly are words of Hitler type or Pagan type people. To bring people to your side of thinking "you don't us bad language or call people Sport". It's very arrogant, which is not like God, but more pagan.

Habibi, I know that you have been brain washed from a very early age to believe all of that crap you hold near and dear. But by now even you, who seems to have traveled some of this world must know that it was and is all bullshit. Its a cult to keep the population in check and I may add to keep a few very rich. I remember well being on a airplane heading to London from Jeddah and four young women that had gotten on, all in black, very proper, but as soon as that plane left Saudi air space, they got up and went into the toilets and when they came out they were all in designer jeans, high heals and looking good, ready to party. Yes sir, they were ready to get it on. The only dark ages in this world are still in all of islam. Your just a fish!
So, women who cover up are in the dark ages? Modesty is backwards now? I didn't know.

forcing women to act like second class humans because the men in that society are so undeveloped to control their urges or by the word of some stone-age myth is , by definition,'dark ages', yes.

Depends what you mean by 'cover-up' and 'modesty'. Forcing women to do anything against their will is immoral - even many religious fundies would agree. Head-coverings aren't even demanded in Bangladesh.

There's nothing immoral in a young woman wearing a mini-skirt. The problem is in cultures (e.g. parts of India) where the male culture perceives such fashion as a licence to commit sexual assaults.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2013/mar/24/i...
Islamic societies don't have a problem with women. They frequently seem to have problems with men's attitudes towards women, trandgender issues, homosexuality, equality and ordinary human morality.

yes, many cult members feel safety in their subjugation. and hey, if you don't have to think, what a burden that has been lifted off your shoulders...just follow the the people who have lied to you repeatedly and let them rule your life. very safe.

not really that human, but a very safe and low effort kind of life.

You wouldn't believe me, regardless of what I say, so oh well. Again though, I'll let Him tell me. Pretty funny your reference to Hitler- he was a BIG collector of Christian artifacts- I've only got the one thing. It also doesn't bother me that you believe people who argue with you are arrogant- that's the usual attitude of athiests. And their judgement.

What would happen if you didn't wear it? Would your father/husband (whoever might be seen as responsible for you under 'Sharia law') not object?

Finally a sane person here. And I mean that. I'm not being sarcastic.
Anyways, I'm not talking about forced modesty. But who gets to define what modesty is?
