Can the US Army accept atheists?

My brother is non-religious and he served 4 years in the US navy. It doesn't matter if you black or white, Christian or atheist, straight or gay, you are still serving your country and you deserve and you have all of my respect for that.

Actually, it was Bush 41 that made the statement, but his son hasn't contradicted it either -(oh and remember you aren't a patriot either, Bob :-)

Oh it's absolutely true. I retired as a Chief Petty Officer, and while the godbots had their bibles all over their desks without incurring any negative comments, I was called to the Command Master Chief's office for a chewing out because he heard that I was an Atheist. That just pissed me off.

I have no problems with the religion of the people I work with, All I care about is their ability to do their job. First of all atheism is not a religion but a lack of belief in religion therefore, Justin’s problem with the army listing him as no religious preference is flawed, He has “No Religious Preference” He is just one of those 15 minutes of fame people that are worried about inconsequential issues as someone who can’t practice their Lack of religion. You have no religion, so what. The army does not Make you practice religion. You do not have a Religious preference. The problem everyone has with Atheist is they keep trying to make people think they are special and deserve special treatment because of it
