Perhaps one of the biggest challenges to atheism today comes from moral philosophers who argue that it is impossible to substantiate a belief in an objective morality without an absolute authority like God to back it up.

Yes, children do have to learn how to lie, they learn it from the many lies parents tell them, like the Easter Bunny, Santa Claus, Tooth Fairy, and ... Jesus.
You don't have kids do you? because your ignorance on the subject is spectacular.

If only that were what was happening, but alas, it is not. They are trying to force their religious "values," really it's a lack of conscience, onto everyone else by force of law.

So what religious beliefs do you have again? Tripping over yourself avoiding that question.

It's just fun pointing out your lies.

Nope your dodge doesn't work because you are always on here discussing religion. SOrry but you can't have it both ways.

You are a pathetic sniveling coward who has been busted as a liar. But in a way it's great that you are so deeply ashamed of your religious beliefs. It shows how the walls are crumbling around your ears.

Why did he wait 3 years if he was into prepubescent girls? He was a righteous man doing the will of Allah only. A 9 year old back then is the same as a 20 year old now.

Sex with a 12 year-old girl is child abuse in any age. Ignorant, powerful and self-interested warlords didn't need to care what girls or women felt or thought,(and the character that the "Prophet" Mohammed is based on seems to have been a real character and a war-leader).

Come to think of it, many Muslim societies today don't seem to have progressed far...

Of course western societies are far from perfect, but they are generally more democratic with more firmly established institutions; and the rule of law isn't fundamentalist or "Sharia compliant".

I don't see that keeping one's religion to oneself is a 'dodge'. That is the attitude in most European countries - that if someone feels they have a 'spiritual side' that's their business. It shouldn't keep them from discussing religion, if they wish. Whether personal religious beliefs harm us is a good question though as one tends to think and act on one's beliefs. Racist beliefs; or someone who believes gay-sex comparable to bestiality; or atheists are less moral - these beliefs might concern us. Forcing religion on others or failing to uphold one law for all and separation of church and state are of more concern. Sorry, I don't read all comments and I have no idea why you seem to feel some antagonism towards Lincoln.

Children should be taught about all mythologies equally...

I suppose if all the families are of one faith and there aren't any atheists there, religious practices are bound to creep-in. That's not a reason for bitterness but might raise concern these days about indoctrination.
