I'm not confused-- your book of John keeps repeating the mantra that John was Jewsus' gay lover:
"the disciple whom Jesus loved" about a hundred times or so.
That's clearly an indication that John and Jewsus loved the gay sex thing.
I don't think that love means sex in that context. More likely, it means that Jesus favored John because he understood the message better than the other disciples in the same way that I feel close to musicians that understand its structure well enough to talk about it on a higher level. I think its a mistake to view ancient writings as though they were written in a modern context, especially if the work is semi-fictional.

It's a well known fact that in the earliest Bibles, everything Jesus said wasn't in red - it was in mauve.

Oh, I disagree. Sex and love is always intertwined in one fashion or another: even among siblings, there was sex between their parents, the source of the sibling affection. Same for the parents of their offspring--they'd not have offspring had they not had sex first.

And that Jesus never married says volumes; he preferred the company (and sex) of men.

It's as clear as anything else in that ugly book.

What was Jesus doing with the naked boy at the tomb?

Best not to think about it.

Well Thor also enjoyed relations with busty blonde and red haired women and goddesses not 6 year old little girls like a certain prophet.

Where is the potty mouthed bit of that line? >> What was Jesus doing with the naked boy at the tomb? <<< Is it the word "naked" which distresses you?
Is the word "potty" any less, potty mouthed than the word "naked" is?
You don't have to watch your words around here, after all the subject is mostly about the myth god who would have your neighbor d!ck your wife, while laid out on the street

I merely quoted what the bible says twice. If anyone has a problem with Jesus spending time with a naked boy in a tomb, I guess they should avoid the bible.

Thor for example only did such things with women and goddesses who were thousands of years old.

Thor had better morals I guess.

We both know he did.

This Jewish/Christain/Muslim god would get pissed at a man and to punish him, his wife would be handed over to the neighbors to be raped in the streets, now I don't know about everybody else's opinion, but that in itself makes the god as profane as any porno-grapher ever might be. And it makes the god as much an absolute moral-less d!ckwad as any human who has ever lived

I agree.

And on anther thread, I and another poster had wandered off in criticism of bible-god, and I had forgotten for a bit, that this god is entirely fiction.

We were both writing as if there was an objective entity, however hypothetical, to be the target of the criticism.

Then it hit me: it's all fiction, written by .... men.

More specifically, the OT's depiction of "god" was fabricated by the ancient Isralites known as "levites" or "holy" men.

It is interesting to note that bible-god is portrayed as being quite jealous of other gods-- to the point of murdering anyone who dares look away from b.g.

And I recalled that these levites were able to live off the excess sacrificial stuff brought to the temple, to "give" to bible-god. This permitted the lazy levites to do no work of any kind, apart from stroking the egos of the leaders of the other tribes.

Clearly, after a very short time, these men soon felt this tribute was >>owed<< to them, and them alone. Thus the various rules against paying tribute to other gods-- they wanted it all for themselves.

Classic corruption of a lazy, privileged class, writ large.

......

Sound familiar?(modern times...)

Well said! At least all the actors and actresses want to be in the porn flick they are in. They weren't rounded up by the sword and forced into it unlike the bible commands. They are also all 18 and up unlike all the children raped in the bible and Quran.

Such a convenient excuse! We killed little boys and raped little girls and impaled infants on a sword because they were evil doers! Aka people not like them.

To date, few religions that are widely successful (i.e. lasted a long time) practice tolerance with non-members.

Rather instead, they advocated murdering those unwilling to convert.

The good news, is this attitude is finally becoming unacceptable to more and more societies in the world at large.

And as such, religions are once again, evolving to avoid extinction.

We do see, in many of the larger branches of both Islam and Christianity, an emergence of a more progressive and tolerant theology.

I have no real beef with those-- they seldom try to pass laws based on hateful ideas.

In contrast to the Genuine Islam™ and Genuine Christian™ versions-- of who's membership is just fine with murdering non-members.

Not really, and we are just as apt to quote Lazarus Long or Mark Twain, as we are the buybull. I personally have read all three of these, but have yet to get around to Dawkins.

I haven't read Dawkins either, apart from quotes here and there.

I saw no reason to--I was already convinced that no gods were great.
