Cut Ten Commandments down to 6?

There are 23 comments on the www.roanoke.com story from May 17, 2012, titled Cut Ten Commandments down to 6?. In it, www.roanoke.com reports that:

Could the Ten Commandments be reduced to six, a federal judge asked Monday.

Would that neutralize the religious overtones of a commandments display that has the Giles County School Board in legal hot water?

That unorthodox suggestion was made by Judge Michael Urbanski during oral arguments over whether the display amounts to a governmental endorsement of religion, as alleged in a lawsuit filed by a student at Narrows High School.

603, or so, already gone the way of the dinosaur, why not a few more. Heck, why stop there? The commandments are veiwed more as suggestions than commands, anyway. And even as suggestions they are ignored, more often than not.

Nope, four.#7 and #10 are also only religious ones. I thought fundies didn't want thought crimes or the government interfering in the bedroom?

You also need to ditch #9 since no preacher actually obeys that one.

#5 is not really a good one, considering the number of abusive parents.

So two would be acceptable.#6 and #8.

Please tell me they will get rid of that pesky one. Number 6. And 8! Also a cool one to get rid of.

#'s 1- 4 just show us how truly insecure the Xian god is.
# 5 is conditional, some should and some shouldn't (all parents are not worthy, case in point Jehovah).
#6 is a good one, but how to enforce it especially among the godbots? No more, religous war!
#7 Humans are sexual beings, so no, not feasible.
#8 It ain't yo stuff. Keep ya hands off. Keep this one.
#9 Easy for some, still it is a worthy goal, so keep this too.
#10 Do not want? Screw that, we all gonna want, so trash #10.

So being left with only 3, do we call them the 3 commandments?
6,8,9. No murder, theft or lying.

Lager, US beer with a bit more artificial flavoring added in to make it almost taste like real lager.:p

I rather like Samuel Adams Boston Lager, but most American Lagers taste weak and watered down to me. Perhaps a trip across the water to sample the pubs in the UK is long overdue, eh?

Blegh.

Here, we get English beers AND European Lagers.

Real Stuff.

Q: What's the difference between American beer and having sex in a canoe?

A: Nothing. Both are f*cking close to water

We have stupid and oppressive alcohol laws and regulations here. Grocers can't even sell liquor, christian zealots managed to give us our own micro-prohibition.

even those should be civilized, modified, explained. not to bear false witness against another is worse than many other types of lying. false accusation can be dangerous to the innocent accused. a lie to protect someone innocent would be a good thing.

theft is not the same if it is done with violence or threat of violence, as when it is not. it is not the same when the person stolen from can easily spare something, of little worth to him, easily replaceable, etc - as when it is something important to him, irreplaceable, that he cannot stand to lose. not the same thing if the person stealing is poor and the one losing is rich and wasteful, as if the person stealing is rich and wasteful and the one losing is poor.

That god character didn't get into too much detail there. All that super power and he's still incompetent when it comes to the nitty gritty of morals.

Based on his actions, even by human standards he totally lacks any morals. I don't see how he would have been in a position to dictate what he lacks.
