Allah vs atheism: 'Leaving Islam was the hardest thing I've done'

Jan 18, 2014 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: The Independent

A growing number of Muslims are speaking out about losing their faith, but it can mean being shunned by their families, or even threatened with death.

But the old led to the enlightenment of the new regardless, and just because you can't ignore history doesn't mean that the New Testament hasn't superseded the old covenant as God said it would (Jeremiah 31:31).
What do you know you left out the bit you didn't want. Let me post it again...
"If you do ignore the old then you make God fallible and/or the bible useless as humans have ruined it." The point was that if you say the old testament doesn't matter to modern theology you break Chirstany. Here you call the old testament "history" and said that it "led to the enlightenment of the new" showing me that you have completely missed the point, the old testament can't just be history, it can't be a stepping stone for greater achievements it has to be as good as the new. If not it means there was a lot of human influence in the old opening the door for the same to be true of the new or God is fallible as it needed to improve itself.

What do you mean by "the New Testament hasn't superseded the old covenant"? How has it not been superseded? There are so many ways people put forward to do this it's hard to know what you you mean when you say it has not superseded.

It requires tremendous courage for a muslim to voice a public opinion, especially if the by-line can be traced.

Why? It was BS the first time you posted it, and posting it over and over in the hopes of changing that is the very definition of insanity.

One reason you're stupid.
THE UNIVERSE CAN'T APPEAR FROM NOTHING!
How do you know this? How much "nothingness" have you studied, in order to narrow down its properties? This isn't an assertion that anyone can stand behind, without knowing what truly happens in the presence of "nothing". Maybe universes springing into existence is exactly what MUST happen when "nothing" exists. Until we know, we cannot claim that we know.
Carchar king wrote:
Also, i'm not here to prove which religion is right, i'm here to prove atheism wrong and argue against atheist stupidity.
A person who is an atheist is merely one who does not have an active, standing belief in any gods. A person who is not a theist, in other words. This does not mean that the atheist will insist that they know that there are no gods. Most atheists, like myself, will admit that there just might be gods! But, without good evidence to convince us of one of these god-claims, we cannot choose one as "believed in". Without solid evidence, we remain unconvinced, and therefore without a god.

There are some atheists, of course, who DO insist that they know that there are no gods. I'd have to agree with you, this claim is fairly stupid. It is arrogant and untenable. No one knows that there AREN'T gods anymore than anyone knows that there ARE any. This simply isn't knowledge that humans possess.

Could there be gods? Sure, I suppose. But how likely is that? EVERY discovery humans have ever made, every phenomenon we've ever investigated, has turned out to have naturalistic causes and processes. Why should the universe itself be any different? Why should THAT be predicated on some kind of magic, while nothing else is?

And what good does speculating do? Whatever the true mysteries of the universe turn out to be, it's not likely that we'll simply STUMBLE onto them through philosophy. They're bound to be stranger and more arcane than we can possibly imagine. But they aren't likely to involve a superbeing who created ten trillion cubic light years of empty space, all for the benefit of one species on one planet, who have been given strict rules about their genitals, and who will be set on fire forever if they are disobedient or dismissive of the supernatural.

For my part, atheism involves opposing religious over-reach into society, and I don't think that's "stupid" at all. Everyone should have the freedom to believe whatever they want, but they go too far when they ask the government to advertise it for them, or public schools to teach it as fact, or when hospitals or businesses are permitted to discriminate against non-adherents. No one needs all that in order to hold a religious belief.

But, people should be more critical in their analysis of the claims they hear, especially supernatural ones. They just don't stand up.
