And even when people were being burned at the stake for believing in the 'wrong kind' of Christianity, it STILL never occurred to them to say, "I renounce Catholicism/Protestantism " :-)
Some people still seem to believe 'everything happens for a reason'-(i.e. god swill).
Yes, it is sad.

It goes back to how deeply the brainwashing has penetrated.

I would think that according to how fast you claim life started on this dead rock that at least one more type of life would have started in the next 4 billion years.
With out a creator to make the rules why then does all life have DNA / RNA?
That's the way things worked out.
How many times Do I have to tell you that?
Langoliers wrote:
life.
"All living organisms store genetic information using the same molecules DNA and RNA. Written in the genetic code of these molecules is compelling evidence of the shared ancestry of all living things. Evolution of higher life forms requires the development of new genes to support different body plans and types of nutrition. Even so, complex organisms retain many genes that govern core metabolic functions carried over from their primitive past."
Again I ask if spontaneous life (or what ever you want to call it) started shortly after the earth was formed. Why is it that one speck of life is the mother of all life?
Why not?
Langoliers wrote:
Why in the next 4 billion years didn't a different type of life emerge?
Something that didn't use DNA and/or RNA?
Maybe it did, but didn't survive very long. Or maybe it just didn't.
Langoliers wrote:
Odds are higher for a second type of life if indeed life did self generate.
How would you know the odds?

There will always be questions about life and its origins we can't answer. Some answers might even be beyond the ability of humans to figure out and understand, but we do know the creation story in the Buy-bull is just a Bronze Age myth.

I just reviewed the first several of my classic links to atheists presenting things they are willing to debate.

And they are 100% spot-on proof Nothing-John is lying.

Lying-John: been lying since he first oozed into this forum.

You are correct. That was speculation. But you asked why there were no other genetic lines of living things. I pointed out that there *may* have been other lines originally.

In answer to your main question, among other things, the atmosphere is not the same today as it was 3.8 billion years ago. Part of the reason is that about 2 billion years ago, organsims started making oxygen and releasing it into the atmosphere. This is known from the iron band formations produced when the chemistry of the oceans changed by becoming more oxidizing. But the first life formed when the oceans had little disolved oxygen and that alone drastically changes the chemistry relevant to the formation of life. In other words, the conditions for *new* strains of life with a different chemical basis simply haven't existed for the last 2 billion years.

No, it is a religious book. It is often transcribed as 'Bible', but 'Buybull' is more descriptive.

So as conditions changed new spontaneous life should have continued to pump out different new forms of life at least every half billion years or so.
Yet only DNA / RNA is the only method used. Rather odd!
