The Atheist God

Oct 7, 2013 Full story: Daily Kos 152

An odd title I know, but maybe not as odd as one might think. I am an Atheist in the purest sense, but I am still in some ways forced to contemplate God, though it may not be my own.

Please, if you're so sure the end of "biblical prophecy" is drawing nigh, and your life endeavors are soon to be done...
Sign all of your earthly possessions over to me upon the return of the Jesus!
Jesus is Lucifer, and he's been reincarnated. Both he, and Adam (Satan) have been reincarnated and both will be executed by the God of Israel. Isaiah 27:1, Ezekiel 28:18. Lucifer means "morning star" and that is who Jesus claims to be. Revelation 22:16. He is Satans counterfeit messiah and the "second Adam"

<quoted text>That may be true, and some prophecies have a dual fulfillment. But some prophecies are so detailed, they are unmistakable. Like the "crucifixion" (which wasn't a crucifixion at all) and the "betrayal" for 30 pieces of silver. Both of those have already happened. The "crucifixion" on 10/22/69 and the "betrayal" almost 30 years ago. Most of the major events in the Messiahs life are in the bible. Psalm 139:16 "...and in thy book all my members were written..."
You look for occurrences that will fit prophecies, like other prophets before you. Whatever happens will happen and prophetizing isn't going to change anything.

Actually, I look for prophesies that will fit occurrences, there's a difference. You can change Gods mind though, and scripture can be broken. But the breaking of scripture is the fulfillment of scripture. The flying roll said, "I broke my heel, they wanted to put it in a cast, but I wouldn't let them" I've actually never broken a bone but the scripture means something. Something is broken, but that doesn't mean that everything in the future is all broken together. Most of the bible has already been fulfilled.

Look at it this way......... the religious use scriptures, prophets and prophesies to predict wars, but we(You, I and others)don't need it. Fighting in the Middle East has been going on since humans inhabited there..........no prophets or crystal ball needed to figure that out.:-)

Good Lel, are you ready for turkey day? You know in the OT it talks in many places about Thanksgiving? It also talks about the eagle! The USA is the lost house of Israel.

Yep. Just a wee bit of understanding of the human condition, and some really honest observational skills.

Neither one is difficult; as long as you can put aside any religious biases, naturally.

I suppose that last bit is why they are so easily impressed by fake "prophecies" and such.

Exactly! The indicators are observation skills, written history and archaeology. Whether we like it or not, wars will always exists there and nothing is going to change it because, as I stated before, there are people there who can't settle in their own skin let alone make peace.

by Dylan Thomas

Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieved it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.

Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, bless, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

More lack of original thought. Mindlessly cutting and pasting irrelevant odds and ends doesn't say anything flattering about your intellectual capacity. It's a great poem, but completely disconnected from the topic under discussion.

The last war will be WW III and it will end all wars. Christians call it Armageddon and it will pit the righteous against the wicked. After that, there will be everlasting peace. The God of Israel will live and reign in Jerusalem and will be the governor among the nations.

Live where? In the rubble? "Reign" and "be the governor among" what nations? Do you understand the nature of Global Thermonuclear War? Seems to me your long awaited "Armageddon" is sort of a let down if there's going to be all this peace, love and nations left laying around. We Humans have something a lot bigger planned. Won't be no place to hide, oh sinner man, come that day!

Abrahamic religious people have reason to be pessimistic since it gives them cause and reason to justify the atrocities of their god. It pains them to see the progress that humans have made from the days of witch burning, slavery, homophobia, and accepted sexism: things that are praised in their holy books.

There will not be nuclear war, God will not allow it. It will be a conventional war against Jerusalem and the Messiah. It will start when the Messiah is executed but she will come back on the Mount of Olives to win the war. Jesus and all Christians will be cut off at that time. Good will triumph over evil.

Haven't we already kind of been through all that? Executing Messiahs and them coming back and all? Jesus as Satan and Christians being evil are refreshing twists, but really ... you're just kind of rehashing tired, old themes and ideas. Why did God let us waste trillions of dollars worth of the Earth's treasure on weapons he had no intention of 'allowing' us to use? We could have turned the world into a real Paradise with that kind of money better spent. Makes Him kind of look like a poor manager and no friend to Humanity. "Good will triumph over evil" when the planet's Human passengers all have a reasonably good chance at a decent education and a fair share of the remaining resources. The yarns you spin have proven themselves useless, time after time. Useless, but not harmless. True "evil" is religion and the only soil in which it thrives ... ignorance.

There have been many, many false Messiah wannabes through the ages. It continues to this day. The real McCoy is the one who returns on the Mount of Olives after their death. Zech. 14:4. This hasn't happened yet. God has been incarnated and Jesus reincarnated and it will be a battle to the death. Christians (the sons of darkness) will execute the Messiah but they and Jesus will burst into flames. Zech. 14:12, Ezekiel 28:18-19. The final war, WW III will be between the sons of light and the sons of darkness. In the OT it's called the "valley of decision". Joel 3. The wicked will have already been cut off in the second judgment by fire.
