That's because true science only deals with the physical and not the spiritual, der. You support and idolize the Four Horsemen when trying to debunk an Abrahamic religion; that's not real science, that's just bigotry. Funny how asshats like Sam Harris promote Buddhism. No reputable scientist would promote one religion over another...since that behavior is not scientific, but the New Atheism acolytes have a bigoted political agenda to promote, dontcha? Talk about instigating another Holy War, or rather, an Unholy War!

Yea there's a lot of misconceptions when it comes to Atheism lol. Atheism is just a lack of belief and definitely not a religion as some people intentionally or unintentionally misconstrued lol.

Even funnier is how people get confused about agnosticism and Atheism. Most agnostics are Atheists, they just dont know that agnosticism pertains to knowledge and Atheism pertains to belief.

That's jibberish.

Holy war is only possible due to religion. Religion's divisive and outdated. And as for 'trying to debunk an Abrahamic religion'- it IS debunked unless you seriously believe a god sent a prophet to Earth or there's a Holy Land or Chosen People. Obviously Abrahamic religions and these...

are man-made superstition.

Religion = superstition

True. And most people don't seem conscious of the fact that secular, atheist and agnostic are pointless without religion. That's why I call myself a non-believer and don't get involved in discussions of what an agnostic or atheist is. I use the dictionary definitions of those words, not theological dogma about them.

There are indeed cases where scientists have inoculated themselves.
virtuanna wrote:
<quoted text>Not necessarily. Would you expect an R&D technician to try and live, physically, inside a Petri dish with his "creation"? He/she would have to find a less physical way of interacting with a less intelligent physical being, i.e., mentally or what could be called "spiritually"...on a particular, information carrying wave signature designed to meld with the target's own consciousness. Our universe could live inside something much larger, like a Petri dish exists inside a lab.
A closed universe isn't necessarily as closed as you suggest and if it IS then it must also be eternal, infinite which describes God. The Universe itself may be God and we are nothing but his/its restless dreaming.

If they had a forum on "theism" it would be in the religion section too. So.

Is "theism" a religion, or is it just a category? Baptist, Catholic, Methodist, Hindu, Muslim, etc. are all theistic religions.

Buddhism & Janism are atheistic religions.

It's really not as black and white as some people want to pretend.

I wasnt raised in an environment where Thor is accepted as a god.
I have no knowledge of scandinavian mythology or anything pertaining to it.
I cant disprove something I have no knowledge of

Possibly as a spiritual entity or celestial being of some sort but not as God.
I might recognise such a being may exist under a different name

It might be more correct to call buddhism and jainism 'non-theistic' instead of atheist.
Anyway you atheists hate buddhists and jains who would seem closer to deism (and you hate them too) if anything

As far as I know Thor is not a creator nor a sustainer nor a prime mover, he cannot be a No.1 god in that mythology

So you have disproved his godhood and shown him to be myth. How did you do it??

I made a judgment based on what I know, even though I know little about Thor or any other scandinavian god or the religion associated with it.
I see no reason to stop my religious practices based on limited information nor do I see a need to adopt cultural/religious practices of scandinavians as I am not scandinavian
I dont think I have shown or proved that Thor is a myth, nor was that my intention, nor is it a concern of mine
