People keep asking us to prove there is a God.

People have believed in God for centuries, then science comes along and says there is no God.

The burden of proof is on science.

Can anyone prove there is no God?

Wrong. The burden of proof is on the one making the positive existence claim. So *you* have to prove existence.

Or, if you want, give some properties of your God that would help us to establish existence. Give us some test that, if it fails, you would be willing to give up your beliefs. Some test that is public and can be done for all to see with data that can be verified even by unbelievers.

Rationales for not believing in a God include:

* the lack of empirical evidence,

* the problem of evil,

* the argument from inconsistent revelations,

* the argument from nonbelief.

Think of other exceptional claims.

For example, say I believe in pagan gods. Its not up to you to >disprove< them. Its reasonable to expect me to come up with some proof.

People, like you, expect us to believe what you are saying is true... yet there is absolutely no evidence to support your claim. So, yes, if you want us to accept what you a re saying is 'true', prove it.

People also believed the world was flat... that still didn't make it true.
People also believed that natural events like lightning, thunder, earthquakes, floods, volcanoes, eclipses, etc) could only be explained by the perceived existence of 'gods' because they didn't know why those things happened.

Science deals with empirical evidence of the natural world. There being no evidence of the supernatural (gods) means 'god' isn't something science concerns itself with.

A negative position is supported by the utter lack of any evidence for the positive claim... it's the default position when no evidence for the positive claim exists.

There can be no all powerful compassionate god because we have evidence of avoidable suffering.

What sort of god, if any, does that leave us with?
Nothing that deserves to be worshipped unquestioningly.

Yes I can. But first, you have to prove that there is no invisible pink magical wish granting unicorn in my bedroom closet. Please list all your evidence against my unicorn, and then I will list my evidence against your god.

Yes.

Define the god you wish proven myth, and it's then quite easy to show.

Also with god, a godless universe is impossible.

Therefore the original assertion is proved invalid.

Therefore with god, not all things are possible.

Methinks the words "it through" in your post above are entirely superfluous.

If I said fairies exist, would you not ask me to prove it??? What is the difference. You or I have neither seen or heard from either, but since I would be making a claim that they are real it would obviously be right on my part to show the evidence. If you told me fairies were real I would most certainly want to see it! lol

Your question was incorrectly phrased.

You should have asked....

"Can anyone prove there are no gods?"

Plural, you see. Not singular.

The definitions given for God (or any god/goddess for that matter) are quite vague. Without precisely defined properties and clearly stated methods by which this god interacts with the physical world it is impossible to test the existence of this god.

But your logic seems to be that if one can not disprove existence then belief in existence is justified. This is, frankly, BS. One can not absolutely prove that leprechauns don't exist. That does not mean that belief in leprechauns is valid.

The fact that there is an utter lack of evidence for your God, or any other god, means that holding the position that such a god does not exist is a very reasonable thing.

And, as polymath pointed out, YOU are the one claiming something exists. The burden, therefore, is upon you to provide the evidence.

I wish there was a cure for stupid, but there isn't. There's no evidence for god, there never has been. Science merely verified this fact and continues to do so again and again, every single day of the week, every hour and every minute.

On the other hand, religious liars have no proof, have never had any proof and continue to spam forums with their creationist nonsense acting arrogantly as though they have proven their personal hallucinations.

That is why god is just an idiotic myth.

If a person claims something then the burden of proof is on the person that claims it. Science only claims that there is no proof of a "god" that has been found.

My personal opinion is that we will probably never find proof of a "god", but even if it happens, odds are it will not be in my lifetime.
