Lady you are totally off your antique rocker. You started a post about people cussing on topix. Then proceeded to tell me if I don't like what you write don't read it. Well the same goes to you. You don't like what someone posts then move on. Only a complete moron such as yourself would expect to come onto an Internet site and see no profanity. If its so offensive to you then don't look at it. It's your choice to look on these sites. Go back to your sewing circle or whatever else makes you feel safe and leave the big wide world to those who can handle it.
NO! I started a forum about cussing on topix not a post! you see you cant even get your story streaght! you think you can talk me off here, you got another thing comming young man, and as always you result in name calling again."moron" how sad! how many more names are you going to use on me on this forum? I hope it wont be too vulgar. It also goes with the same thing with you.- If you dont want me to talk about washing your mouth out with soapy water then dont read it!

Ok. Take for instance the story of Noah. This man had no education in building a massive large size boat or any kind of boat for that matter. Some one had to tell him and teach him how to build it and that someone was God. The boat noah built was no canoe! Picture yourself building a boat the length of one and a half football fields and as high as a four story building. the ark was exactly six times longer than it was wide- the same ratio used by modern shipbuilders today. The flood had destroyed everything on the earth exept the ark. when the flood waters were abated, the ark rested on the mountains of Ararat. So all this is recorded in the old testement of the Bible (Genesis 7 and 8)
This story is true. People have doubts about that it really happend, yet there is evedince of a large massive boat on the mountains of Ararat in northern Turkey today.
Just do the math and you will see why this story is clearly a fable.

The mean radius of the earth is 6371 Km.(The earth is not perfectly spherical. Using the mean should give us a good average.

There were mountains mentioned in the old testament, so we have to account for the height of the mountains in figuring how deep the flood would have to be to cover the entire earth. Just for the sake of argument, we will ignore the Himalayas and the Rockies, where many peaks are well over 10,000 feet. Let's assume no mountain over 1Km in height. That's a very generous assumption in your favor.

The volume of a sphere is 4/3*pi*(radius cubed).

That makes the volume of the earth approximately 1,082,657,777,102.05 cubic kilometers.

Adding the extra kilometer to the earth's radius needed to cover mountains no higher than 1 km gives a volume of 1,083,167,663,016.96 cubic km.

The difference between those values is the volume of water you would need to cover the earth to a depth of 1 kilometer. The difference is 509,885,914.96 cubic kilometers. One cubic kilometer is 1,000,000,000,000 liters. So, the quantity of water needed to cover the earth to a depth of 1 Km is 50,988,591,496,000,000,000,000 liters OVER AND ABOVE the quantity of water already in all the oceans, lakes, ponds, rivers, brooks, ponds and puddles on earth.

If you don't have an explanation other than 'goddidit' for where all that water came from and then went, you have to concede that the entire notion is preposterous. Change the depth of the water to reflect the actual height of mountains, and the absurdity just compounds.

Assuming you get over that hurdle, explain how Noah got himself to Australia to round up a pair each of kangaroos, dingos, Tasmanian Devils and Platypus, off to Asia for a pair of tigers, down to Antarctica for some penguins, up to the arctic circle for some polar bears and reindeer, over to south america for a pair of anaconda, some jaguars and some llama, then down the Nile for a pair of hippos and rhinoceros. How did he manage to herd this menagerie thousands of miles, keep the carnivores away from the herbivores, keep all of them fed and disease free, all before the voyage even began? Is that another "goddidit"?

The bible says the flood lasted for some time. So, in addition to the millions of species of animals, Noah would have to have had adequate food to feed millions of animals. How did it get harvested? How did it get transported to the ark? Where did it get stored?

Your claims for the size of the ark ignore the structural limitations of wood as a ship building material. Even a couple of millenia after your claimed flood, the only wooden ships even approaching 300 feet in length either incorporated metal into their design or did not last long. A 450' wooden ship is structurally impossible. Wood flexes too much, and would leak like a sieve.

Interesting! You do realize that you are too rational to convince those of the religious persuasion, do you?

Why did god supposedly flood the earth? Because of man's sinfulness.
If that is so, please explain how humans are now less 'sinful' in the post flood era. Are they less prone to violence, cruelty, stealing, lying, adultery now than they were pre-flood?
If not, then the flood failed to achieve its desired effect and was just a gratuitous act of cruelty by your god. Not to mention an epic fail on the part of an allegedly omniscient and omnipotent being. A truly omniscient being would have foreseen that the flood would have no effect on human behavior, and thus not reduce 'sinfulness'. If the flood would not accomplish a reduction in human evil, it was simply an exercise in killing people for no reason. Hardly the act of a 'loving' god.
Explain why, if the flood is a true story, and it failed to make any change in human behavior, it was not repeated?
The story of the flood is at bottom, simply more evidence that there is no omniscient and omnipotent being, let alone a being that is, also benevolent.
