I can recall spending time on a porch watching nearby tornadoes ... I figured that if it hit my house, I was dead anyway. May as well see something I'd not likely get to see again.
It was cool--but they twisters did not touch down that time--this was back in the early '70s. Tulsa hasn't had a touchdown in years, though.
My theory is the increased heat signature from the city, creating massive updrafts of air.
This is a real thing-- cities produce prodigious quantities of waste heat, as compared to nearby countrysides.
This is just a wild-azzed guess, of course... but it almost makes sense.
:)
It makes sense to me. I was in Reed, also in the early 70's and those monsters did touch down. There was no one around to tell me of the dangers, and it was all new to me, so I played with them.

If you don't agree with skeptic you seem wrong in skeptic's mind.

Yeah, tornadoes and UFO's are like trolls. That's why they're so hated. They always show up unexpectedly and disappear, sort of like Q on Star Trek.
LOL!

The thing is, I've seen a tornado within a couple of blocks of me-- it was airborne fortunately, and didn't touch down. It did wrack some roofs, though.

Yeah, they are kinda cool-- but best witnessed at a mile (or more) away.

<quoted text> If God was dead you would be dead also as well as the rest of us. There would be absolutly nothing in existance. You and the rest of the athiests had better get your heads screwed on streaght! It is not folklore, it is real and Heaven and Hell are real just like this earth your living your life on is real.
Psalms 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God.
Judgement day is comming. when you die, you will be at judgement and ether Heaven will be your home if you have repented and accepted Jesus Christ as you Lord and Saviour, OR Hell will be your home if you follow your present course of your life living in an unbelieaving life. your choice.
Jesus said in John 14:6 I am the way, the truth, and the life: No man commith to the Father but by me.
My first question is...Are Jesus and God the same people? Second: If the answer to that question is yes, then why was speaking about himself in second person?

I'd also just like to say that I'm still confused as to why christians cannot grasp the fact that atheists are not afraid of hell because they do not believe that hell exists. This lifestyle that you choose to lead does not appeal to them, or they would have already become a part of it. Most atheists are informed of every way that any of the verses in your bible can be interpreted, and they don't even care about the book, yet they have to learn it better than you so that they can attempt to defend their right to just live life without the harassment of laws that continue to be made in the name of your religion...

It just seems to me that if you are going to have the audacity to think that your head is screwed on any straighter than mine, then you need to understand that you are the one who is continuing to fight with someone who has already told you several times, "I don't believe in God" I personally believed in God once. I also believed in the Easter bunny, and Santa, and I grew out of those as well. I can only hope that you will do the same, and not continue with the condemnation of people into your hell.

Heheheeee...Are you "witnessing" for tornados?

Cool. At least there is evidence for them being real.

A few years ago I had a big one pass my house about 100 yards to the north.
I heard it and felt the strangeness in the air.
Unfortunately it was 3AM and I didn't get to see it.
The destruction it left was quite impressive. Like a war zone.
Roads completely covered in downed trees for miles.
Homes demolished. Only the shell of cinder blocks left standing.
Several people were killed.

And yet, like you, I find myself fascinated. I still want to see one.

It's a once in a lifetime thing, I think.

It either kills you-- and it was the last thing you saw, or it doesn't and you never get that close to one again.

Either way? Once in a lifetime.

Odd. You are the first person that I have seen who called a tornado a "black buck"? Is that a tradition in your family or community? Is there a tale to go with it?

Clearly.

With twisters, there is seldom a 1/2 way thing-- it's either you're pretty much fine?

Or you are not around anymore, to complain ...

I am certain that he'd have to reach no further than his own backside, to put his hand on EW's card, though it would be more likely a debit, rather than a credit card,.

Or would that be a drawing of himself?
